Fraud is the brainchild of multi instru-mentalist james allsopp and drummer tim giles and features the daemonic antics of guitar antichrist stian westerhus, the frankly sick drumming of ben reynolds and the keyboard melting stylings of fraudulent german philip hochstratte.
their music combines ruthlessly trimmed funk, electronic soundscapes and abbatoire improv with a cut and paste approch to structure.
they have been tipped as a band to watch out for (particularly on a dark night in a back alley) by birmingham and cheltenham artistic director tony dudley-evans in jazz uk magazine and have been featured in the taking off section of jazzwise magazine.
since they formed in may 2005 they have played all over london for no money and were part of the jerwood rising stars programme at the 2006 cheltenham jazz festival and have been featured on bbc radio 3's jazz on 3 programme. The tracks on the site are from their debut album "Fraud" which is available from www.fraudmusic.co.uk and which has been nominated for a BBC Jazz Award for album of the year
Great set at the jazz lounge last night. Meant to say hello in the changeover after ours but it was very dark and there was a stressed stage-manager shouting at us. Next time!

ah mates! how the devil are you? thanks for the insightful comments. with that kind of analysis, i think you could be well on the way to replacing john fordham. but you must be able to compare our sound to andy shepherd in some way; best get your thinking caps on...
oiga camarero!! Buenos Tardes... Gracias por tu amable carta que recibi a manana, que tiempo hace en espana... que tal! que tal!... missin the blurton road days... hope you're good... love the tracks... nice one! The Fair!
hello fraud, some time ago i was in theo girards car and he payed me a cd, i was amazed with the music and asked which band it was, he said something which sounded like 'Frodo' and i was surprised that a band that great had the silly idea of calling themself after a figure of lord of the rings. later i found out he meant 'fraud',which, i think is a much better idea. so, i really like the music and am looking forward to meet you in september (i hope we meet that is). greetings, joachim.
