Midsummer's Festival on Tara 20th to 24th of June 2007
AS the sun rises to its zenith in the sky, we remember the humanity of our existence on this planet, our unity, and come together at Tara in tribute to a common cause….
There is a great tradition, enjoyed by people of many different faiths and cultures, to gather at the Hill of Tara and to celebrate the Summer Solstice. This year, more than any other year, due to the M3 motorway crisis, we must send out a loud call for friends to come to her defence.
Freespirit was asked to play on the 22nd June 2007,and after such a great gig,Freespirit was asked to play the Saturday 23rd June 2007 also.People said we were better the Saturday night.

Quote from Mike Scott - The Waterboys
"I always want an ever changing band playing with different musicians".
We Freespirit have played to 500 people in Switzerland (2005) and 20 people down the local pub.We have played as a duo or as a full band,we do it all.We will play anywhere at anytime......
Graham has been playing music for almost 20 years, playing on the streets all over 38 European Countries, and playing in the Singer/Songwriter clubs in West London. Then he moved to Graz in Austria, and met other musicians, and has made several bands/projects,musicians to play with.Has giged in Many Countries in Europe including Germany,Czech Republic , Austria ,Turkey, Croatia,Bosnia,Ireland U.K. and even N. Ireland.
Graham has made 4 solo albums, about love, war, travelling, destruction of the North American Indians,Ireland,The Great Hungar in 1845 - 1849.Graham has had much inspiration from many things, like Ireland (Spiddal Town , Staring At The Sea , Rain In Ireland and Sligo Town),and reading books like "The Great Hunger",by Cecil Woodman-Smith,(No Potatoes)and "The Mist Of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradly (I"m Feeling Free). From Mike Scott of The Waterboys, who is Graham"s favourite band.Travelling all over Europe is a big inspiration.(Spring Is Coming,Road To Nowhere, and Freeworld).
Since 2003 when Freespirit started, with Graham (Vocal,12 String Guitar Mandolin,Bouzouki,Mouth Harmonica). Freespirit has had many musicians,we have been on the road in Austria,Switzerland (2005),Ireland(2006,2007),Germany(2006,2007),Holland (2006),Croatia (2007) and next year (2008) to France (January) U.K. (February) Germany (April) Ireland (July),and (August) U.K. again!! maybe at the end of 2008 we coming to the U.S.A.
After a few violin players David joined Freespirit in October 2003,and now 4 years later in the same month he has left to do his own music projects, although he said "He be back sometime, maybe a years brake".
Together in 2004 we made our first Freespirit cd,"Communicate Please",with 19 songs about Ireland and travelling.
Josephine, started being the driver, and selling the merchandise,in 2005,and our first tour out of Austria to Switzerland.Josephine started to learn the Bass Guitar, and pick up on the Mandolin, and by the January Germany Tour 2007,had mastered the bass to play her first Tour, and she also played Mandolin on our 2nd Ireland Tour of that year.
In 2006 we met Rüdiger, who started out playing Mandolin,Mandola, but soon felt he wanted to play drums also, and so Rüdiger joined our September Germany and Holland Tour 2006 playing some drums. We now had a full band, but because of family commitment Rüdiger left, and David,Joey and Graham had to do the January Germany 2007 alone.
2007 we have met Mario who played drums on a few gigs, and now Morris, who is from Holland, and has play recently played some gigs, and I hope will carry on with Freespirit. We have also done some "LIVE" studio recording with Morris, which will hopefully turn into a new Freespirit cd sometime.
Now David has left,we now have been searching for another violin player.Lou played with us in Graz, but wasn"t suitable, and so the last gig in Bad Sauerbrunn Sybelle who played with (The Sick Notes),has joined Freespirit. We will see what the fucture holds.
In the past on Tour in Ireland and Germany,we have met other musicians, like Dave, who we met in Ireland in Dublin, who plays Banjo,Mandolin, and Guitar, and he will be joining us on our U.K Tour in February. Also Perciphone who we met in Ireland,is very interested to play with us on our U.K. Tour, and maybe the next Ireland and U.K. tour in July and August..

Freespirit at the BIMU Peace Festival - September 2007 - Headlining on the Saturday. Here is a Freespirit band version of "Fishermans Blues".
You are mellow, easy going, and a total softie on the inside.
People find it really easy to get along with you. You suit most tastes.
And while you're very sweet, you're not boring or ordinary.
You have an attraction to the exotic, and you could show up anywhere... doing almost anything!
You are spirited, energetic, and a total kick to be around.
You're also quite funny. Your sense of humor is on the goofy side, and it fits you well.
Love Hope & Strength Cancer Foundation is a project/Charity by front man Mike Peters of The Alarm. They have just made the highest gig at base camp Mount Everest.Well done and Congratulations.Just looking forward to be having "Austria Rocks" next year.
FOLK CLUB
In August we are moving as a family into a farm house and i will be making a folk-club,and making concerts,singer/songwriter night, folk festivals, and other event. If anyone has a folky irish blues band, get in touch. If your interested in folk music and art also get in touch.
Well now after putting out a competition on myspace forum,we now have a name for the folk club. Its going to be "Rural Roots Folk Club" chosen by Dolores. Thanks Graham.
We now have a NEW farm,as the last one didn"t work out.We still haven"t moved in yet, these things take time.Hopefully sometime early next year,we will be able to move, and make many Folk Acoustic events.Keep watching!!!
More details on www.myspace.com/folkacousticrevolution.Go and have a look!!!
Who I'd like to meet:
Well i have met most people in the music buisiness ,as a musician i find myself very nosey at gigs, and want to meet the so called famous people!!!! But a better question would be "who would you want to play a gig with and support" well of coarse "The Waterboys",but since 2002 i have been trying to support "New Model Army" and this year we Freespirit almost were going to support "The Levellers"but The Levellers gig was cancelled. These are ma dreams, maybe one day they will become true!! nothing is impossible in this world.I was on stage with Wayne Hussey of "The Mission 2 times once in Graz in Austria, and the other time was in Holland.....hey MR Pleasant!!! When i was living in Graz "The Frames" came to do a gig,and after we all with the band went to the fountain, and we were singing "Pagan Place" with Glen... song from "The Waterboys" great time....
A very good friend called Brid who lives in Graz, has made another website about the "folk Acoustic Revolution".so please go and have a look at it,and pass it on to your friends, family and Freespirits.
