Ghost Town Council is an alt.country band based out of Madison, Wisconsin. Citing influences as diverse as Merle Haggard and Warren Zevon, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and the Drive-By Truckers, GTC’s four members – each of whom sing and write – come together to create a sound that is both instantly familiar and yet difficult to pin down. Vocalist and guitarist Brian Knapp, guitarist Tim Case, bassist Mason Aumanstal and drummer Nathan Pinney craft tunes than can roll by as gentle as a tumbleweed, or crash over you like a speeding locomotive – sometimes within the same song. Tales of lonely bar rooms, lost love, and more lonely bar rooms sit comfortably alongside murder ballads and blue collar anthems, prompting madison.decider.com to describe their sound as perfectly suited for, “a pickup truck, a lonely corn field, and a cold six-pack.” Can an alt.country band ask for a nicer compliment?
Since forming in 2008, Ghost Town Council has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Split Lip Rayfield and Romi Mayes, as well as local favorites Earl Foss’s Brown Derby, Whitney Mann and Jentri Colello.
