Girls Guns & Glory formed in Scituate, Massachusetts in the winter of 2005 when former band-mates and high school friends, Ward Hayden (lead vocals/acoustic guitar) and Bruce Beagley (bass), teamed up to record Ward’s original compositions. They entered Noise in the Attic Studio and began work on the GG&G debut CD Fireworks and Alcohol.
The success of that release fueled the formation of a 5-piece lineup that began to work the New England club scene in earnest. Their sophomore release, Pretty Little Wrecking Ball, in February of 2007, proved to be the catalyst in a break-out year for the band as they collected 2 Boston Phoenix awards, numerous articles in the press and lots of radio play - culminating in a Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Americana Act of the Year” and being placed in the Boston Globe’s “Top 15 Local Albums of 2007.” The band solidified its lineup as a strong 4-piece featuring Justin Maxwell on bass and Colt Thompson on lead guitar.
Now, Girls Guns & Glory bring you their third studio release and the first on the Lonesome Day label, INVERTED VALENTINE. The CD encompasses a wide range of musical styles, incorporating a variety of worldly musical instrumentation. The songs catch the listener’s ear with melodic hooks, yet deliver a clear and concise message in each song with well crafted, thoughtful and thought provoking lyrics. "Inverted Valentine" has since led to GGG receiving top honors at the 2008 Boston Music Awards, taking home "Act of the Year" as well as being named the "Outstanding Americana Act of the Year" 2 years running.

Press and Quotes:
"Girls Guns and Glory delivered a graceful, sturdy set of Buddy Holly-meets-Buck Owens twang 'n' roll that translated to the night's most sublime performance. Singer-guitarist Ward Hayden has the pillowy voice of a '50s pin-up star -- the constant comparisons to crooners like Chris Isaak and Lyle Lovett are well-deserved -- and his band's amber-soaked melodies, tight musicianship, and casual elegance were a tonic to an evening." -The Boston Globe
"(Girls Guns & Glory) had a smooth, authentic Honky Tonk/early Rock & Roll vibe that was incredibly endearing. The group won over the packed house at Mr. Pitiful's "in less than half a verse, no lie,"" -City Beat (Cincinnatti, OH)
WOW!! These guys are for REAL!...Wouldn't surprise me at all to see these guys break out in 2009." -Charlotte Music Examiner
"Girls, Guns and Glory just might re-ignite the whole country-rock scene in New England...GG&G has some serious country music chops, but they also kick it up with rock 'n' roll abandon.” -The Patriot Ledger
"back-porch ballads, ’70s country twang, amped-up rockabilly two-step — nobody throws it all together like Girls Guns & Glory, a local group who’ve perfected so many aspects of old-time Americana that you might as well elect them mayors of Frontiertown." -The Boston Phoenix
"Imagine Lyle Lovett and Chris Isaak paying tribute to classic American rock n' roll from Elvis, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.” -The Boston Herald
"Bourbon's doesn't feature chicken wire around the stage or peanut hulls on the floor, but the new venue felt like a Southern roadhouse on Friday night when Girls Guns and Glory rocked the joint, roots style.” -The Wire (Portsmouth, NH)
"I’m up for reviewing just about any form of music with the exception of country. Growing up in the rural South, I’ve been exposed to the genre many, many times over the years. I never developed an appreciation of the music. GIRLS GUNS & GLORY IS AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE. -Pop Syndicate
“Girls Guns and Glory isn't your typical rock n' roll band. They burst into their first set, treating a capacity crowd to licks to tunes that would even make Charlie Daniels and Tom Petty tip their hats.” -The Noise
"Girls Guns and Glory were the buzz band of the 2008 AMA Conference. I expect them to break out in a major way in 2009" -Robert Weingartz, CEO AirPlay Direct

"I can count on one hand the number of cds that have impressed me this year. THIS is one of them.
As I said, you have IT: that elusive quality that can't be faked, bought, or made; it either is or it isn't. You guys don't have to worry about that....because it's there!" -Torchy Blaine (WDVR Americana Music Director)
"Take a front man who sings like Roy Orbison and instrumentalists who know how to rock, and you have an absolutely unique mix! One of our favorite new albums" -WQBR 92.7fm (Pennsylvania)
Wish we could be at the Paradise show. But we will be in Boston for the Gram National 2010 (after two great years in Nashville, where we were Critic's Choice on the last day of the AMA national convention vs. some unbelievable competition), returning to where Gram started it all with The Like and International Submarine Band). GGG is still now the best!
BTW, trying to hit 3,000 signers of the CMHOF petition. If you want to help, http://www.gramparsonspetition.com - so far it's a fight between the Pacific Northwest and England, thanks to Loren and Sam (Flying Burrito Sister). New England want in on the action? Got until Thursday, would have been Gram's 63rd birthday.
