Little people know about the secret cult that has involved the likes of the Dali Lama, Pope John Paul II, Tom Cruise and Dan Brown to name a few, in fact not even the Mossad know about the existence of this clandestine cult that has played such an important role in shaping history as we know it today. To fully understand its origins, once has to search back to the Ming dynasty where our Chinese ancestors began what is known as Greenthief.
The cult developed as a secret organisation that was called upon during culturally oppressive regimes. When Emperor Hongwu took Chinese office in 1368, he shook his head towards non-Taoist music. It was here that Lin Len Yang established Green Thief in reaction to this repressive government, holding weekly Jam sessions in his sound proof hut in the local village. The jam session attracted the village most reputable session musicians and soon became producing some of China’s most important and influential music today. Unfortunately word got out to Hongwu’s guards about Yang’s secret jam sessions and he sent his guards disguised as musicians to destroy the Greenthief cult. Though Hongwu’s guards were successful, what they didn’t realise was that Yang was absent from that session and fled.
Word soon spread and Greenthief cults began popping up all over the place. Whether it was during the Church’s oppressive regime of medieval Europe, Nazi Germany, Sadam’s Iraq, Commi’s in general, Greenthief has always existed in opposition towards the musical oppression of its generation.
With the Indie Invasion well in hand, the world now seeks Greenthief like never before...

Brisbane outfit Toy Balloon will release their debut album Toy Division on
November 8 through Lofly Records, and to celebrate will perform an east coast
launch tour throughout November.
Formed in 2007, Toy Balloon was
originally a fledgling two-piece made up by Nimai Etheridge’s uniquely melodic
wall-of-sound guitar and Greg Cooper’s beautiful sequenced electronic
compositions. The band have since matured into a four piece featuring Chloe
Cooper (Mr Maps) on key boards and Ben Green on drums.
The album was
recorded and mixed at the Lofly Hangar in Brisbane, a DIY performance space that
Toy Balloon has been an integral part of creating. Fostering emerging artists
and left-of-centre music, the Hangar acts as a performance space, recording
studio, and meeting place; and has resulted in a record with a rich, layered
sound reminiscent of New Order, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, and LCD
Soundsystem.

This music is fucking awesome. Yeah I have a couple of myspaces, I have a music and non-music one. But anyway, to reiterate, this music is fucking awesome. It's so cool to hear the stuff you do when you're in front of the drum kit as opposed to behind it. Not to say your drumming isn't of a lower standard, but you can't be doing everything at once, haha..
...can you?
Your singing's gotten incredible too! Fuck man I hope I can catch you guys live soon. It's so great to see you steaming ahead with your own stuff, feels like it's been a long time coming.
Yeah we'll be there. We usually practise thursday night, but we're having a band excursion to your gig. Really like the sound of recordings. We'll have some of the unmastered tracks from our debut EP up this weekend. See you thursday.
