“I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones.” - John Cage
British saxophonist and composer who began his career in London in the 1980s performing with bands like Grand Union, Roberto Pla's Latin Jazz Ensemble, Sambatucada, the London School of Samba, and led various bands - in particular a quartet with Huw Warren, Dudley Phillips and Bosco De Oliveira which gained something of a cult following in Europe and recorded a couple of programs for the BBC.
Unable to contain his wanderlust, he has spent a significant amount of time in different parts of the world including Spain, USA, Islas Canarias, Germany, Malaysia and recently Singapore. This has imbued his music with a vast vocabulary of flavours that range from the Afro-Cuban to the Balinese.
He spent some time as a full-time lecturer at the International College of Music in Kuala Lumpur, and has taught at various other institutions such as Mahidol University, Bangkok; National University of Singapore and La Salle College of the Arts in Singapore.
He has recently produced the CD Smoke Signals recorded in London with Pierre De Bethmann, Dudley Phillips, John Parricelli and Nic France and is working on taking this awesome band on the road.....
