YAS & NAYS - SAME LP - GROO0021LP
The firts time we listen the original LP from this U.S.A band we couldn't believe in it. So beautifull armonics and guitar arrangements, so catchy woman voices, rock'n'roll stomp and a guy that sings like Elvis Presley . Some garage pop and psychdelic enviroments. We can compare them to Wendy and Bony, Stone Ponys or even to Gentle Soul, but here we have the rock'n'roll spirit on it. This records was firts released in a obscure label called NEO in a small and private press edition. For us, at Groovie Records is one of the best and beautifull records that we have released untill now. This is really Elvis meeting California sunshine psychedelic sounds. A great record that we can listen from the beggining till the end without take the needle from the turntable. Enjoy it.
LOS MUSTANG 66 - ST - LP - GROO0021LP
Born in 2002, LOS MUSTAN 66 came from MÉXICO city, formed by veterans from the garage scene of South America, Teresa Farfisa ex-LAS ULTRASONICAS, a girl only wild garage combo and Carlos P., that played Bass on the legendary band LOS SICOTICOS. They start to play covers of bands like THE SONICS and THE WAILLERS. They invited Sabu (LOS EXPLOSIVOS) to join them on the Vox Phantom guitar and they put here, in this LP 12 of the best tracks that they recorded to this release, the original tracks sunged in Spanish are really the best of this record, like "Infierno" or "Fuzz On" , but covers like "Writing on the Wall" (Five Canadians) or "Lean On Me" (Lord of Altamond) gonna put your head turning for a while. Along with LOS EXPLOSIVOS, LOS MUSTANG 66 are the wildest and heaviest combo in México. They are obviously influenced by 80's/90's bands like Lords of Altamond, Cynics, Fuzztones or The A-Bones or even the CRAMPS, but they also have a personality that emerge here after 5 years of stage perfomances.

BAOBAS - LP - 500 COPIES ONLY - GROO 0019LP
For some people they were one of the best garage bands ever recorded in Brazil at the end of the 60’s. They only released this LP and a few ep’s, now all the tracks are included as bonus in this fantastic LP. This is the real cult garage band from Brazil. The LP came with a booklet insert with all the history of the OS BAOBAS also with a bunch of rare photos.
OS BEAT BOYS - LP - 500 COPIES ONLY - GROO 0019LP
Along with Os Mutantes, the Beat Boys represented the most radical element in Brazilian rock: their name, clothes, hair—and intense fuzz guitar raves—were all fierce indicators of a rebel spirit, and this in a dangerous time for such self- expression.
Here is the simple truth: The Beat Boys were at the very epicenter of the cultural revolution that convulsed Brazil during the late 1960’s, that movement of rupture, that bringing together of electricity and avant- garde erudition that has come to be known as “Tropicália.”
They backed Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil for their defining moments as artists—both live, and in the studio on tracks which became the opening Tropicalist salvo (a rare EP). So, what were this group of Argentine rock musicians doing in the forefront of all things outrageous in Brazil?
More to the point, why is it that very few people, even among the Brazilian music cognoscenti, have ever heard of them? One explanation must be the fact that the band were essentially outsiders to the Brazilian music scene.
As unlikely as it was for them to penetrate the inner circles of Brazilian elite musicians (it was unlikely), it was even more unlikely that they would remain there once their closest friends, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, were exiled from Brazil. This disc includes the Beat Boys entire output under their own name: their sole album—an exercise in what one might call “controlled Tropicália”, laden with torrid psychedelic moments (released by RCA Victor in 1968), as well as a rare singles track from the same year. A 20- page booklet includes lyrics, and an exploration of the Beat Boys’ fascinating story.“Caetano called the Beat Boys, an Argentinean group settled in São Paulo who had been inspired by the Beatles, to accompany him in ‘Alegria, Alegria.’ That, in fact marked the beginning of the Tropicalista thing.'' —Gilberto Gil
LOS BLUE CAPS - PARAGUAY - 1969- 1972 - GROO016LP
Paraguay is one of the very few countries of South America that still haven't had its own place in the 60's & 70's music reissue scenario, until now. Born in Asunción in 1965, Los Blue Caps found fame in Argentina where they remained for nearly a decade. They released a good number of albums and 45s, and as commonly happened back then, the record company forced them to record some mainstream songs, resulting in the fact that none of their LPs is great from start to finish but they really have a bunch of amazing tracks, that have been selected for this fantastic '' best of'' kinda vinyl release.
Garage, psychedelic, 60's beat- pop, there's a bit of all that in here. Album opens with the astounding psychedelic garage stomper '' No me dejes solo'' with its psychedelic effects and effective fuzz tones, being the only English language song of the entire album. The rest of the album has nice guitar with some fuzz here and there, as well as cool organs.
Limited reissue of 600 copies, with remastered sound, extensive liner notes, photos....
LOS EXPLOSIVOS -A HEY MONSTRO!! /LARGA-TE DE AQUI - 7" 500 COPIES
GROOCS 002
Hailing from gritty Mexico City, Los Explosivos are in the vanguard of the new breed of young bucks carrying the torch of Garage Rock! This recording captures the raw energy that pours from these boys' pores! Live , these chicos come on like a Tornado of Fun! There are Bodies flying, Instruments being slung around the stage (all four Los Explosivos are multi-instrumentalists), girls screaming, and boys dancing amid a cacophony of supe'd up garage punk! ¡Los Explosivos! Yes They Are! Will they be the biggest Superstars of the New Teen garage scene?? ...Quizá Quizá! They've got my Vote!
The Dadds are able to combine English rock’n’roll with French pop music, everything kept at a rather retro level. The English rock elements show some parallels to The Buzzcocks, The Kinks, the Beatles and The Who, the French pop and rock side hintsLes Problemes or Ronnie bird. This mixture of French and English influences is reflected in the vocals, too. There are eight songs in The Dadds’ native language and two songs in english. This their first longplay, here released in delux vinyl record and our friends at Green Cookie records will release the CD. Dont loose it, the best french garage beat band from years.
THE CAVESTOMPERS! - INTRODUCING! - LP 500 COPIES - GROO0015LP
It’s great to hear a brand new record that gives off electric sparks and a palpable sense of the teenage spirit that lies behind all great rock’n’roll sounds.
The Cavestompers, six guys of Russian origin, from the city of Moscow, affirm these essential qualities more than most on today’s scene. Indeed, such
emanations seem to flow freely from them, bringing forth a vital freshness and bold sustenance to the world of the modern beat groove.
On this, their debut long-player, “Introducing…”, The Cavestompers have woven together a truly fine tapestry of sounds - much of it resonating from
the valves of vintage ‘Eastern Bloc’ electronic technology, and instrumentation - breathing new life into familiar noises; building a thumping, swaggering
collection of authentic future dance-party favourites in the process. The influence and style of punk rock isn’t so far away, and hand in hand with the
proclamations of the original Rolling Stones-era have been bound together in The Cavestompers’ style to form what we can term today as ‘the new breed’.
So without any further ado, crank up your music machine, cue the disc and let your hips shake, your bootheels stomp and your head swirl, for as
the boys in the band are proud to shout out loud: “we all can’t stop the stomp”!
The record came with a beautifull two sided insert print, photos of the
Russian instruments and studios and photos of the band.
OUT NOW!!!

THE ACT-UPS-PLAY THAT OLD PSYCHEDELIC SOUNDS OF TODAY
500 COPIES LP - GROO0013LP
The Act-Ups were born in 2001 - A monster made up of one volt of Iggy,
one hambone of Pickett, one shot of Hank, two injections of Jeffrey Lee and a case of bourbon. Their first record "I Bet You Love Us Too", released in 2003, was the perfect record for your late night garage party, filled with soul-punk anthems and rockin' rave-ups. "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell", their second disc, saw the light of the day (and hid in the cloak of night) in 2005, fired up by more whiskey than ever before and the demons that came with it.
The record you now hold in your hands rests atop three pillars of puré fury: the two records that preceded it and the live energy this combo unleash upon unsuspecting
pilgrims all across this land. Behold the Old Psychedelic Sounds of Today!

THE SEA-DERS - LP-500 COPIES -NUMBERED GROOCS014LP
Starting in 1965 many groups began to borrow elements of Eastern music to add a little mystery and exotica to their sound. Some of the more prominent examples of this trend include the Kinks’ “See My Friends,” the Beatles’ “Norwegian Wood,” the Byrds’ “Eight Miles High,” the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black” and the Hollies’ “Stop, Stop, Stop.”
Less known than the aforementioned acts, but acknowledged in some circles as masters of the form were the Cedars. Only, for them it wasn’t a case of flirting with foreign culture—they tapped right into the source in their own backyard.
Formed in Beirut, Lebanon, around 1964, they were originally known as the Top 5. By 1966 they’d become the Sea-ders with Albert Haddad on lead guitar, Joe Shehadeh on rhythm, Raymond Azoury on bass and Zad Tarmush on drums; all four band members sang. Their first 45, “Thanks A Lot” b/w “Better Loved,” was released in Lebanon in 1966 on the Symbol label. The A-side in particular was really strong, propelled by Haddad’s spellbinding double-picked Eastern motif and Azoury’s unusual pulsating bassline. It quickly became a smash hit in Lebanon, selling around 10,000 copies and topping the charts. Shortly afterwards, Decca Records made contact with the group and offered them a record deal in the UK. The group relocated to London, and in 1967 Decca released “Thanks A Lot” b/w “Undecidedly” as their first British single. The flipside was another excellent Middle Eastern flavored beat number, which had been recorded in Lebanon at the same session as the A-side. The record got some airplay on the pirate stations, but failed to break into the charts.
Nevertheless, Decca went ahead with an EP release, featuring the three previously released tracks along with the fine “Cause I Do Care.” Apparently the record had a very limited pressing as it’s now very rare.
By 1968 the Sea-ders had become the Cedars. Their next single paired two of their strongest original songs to date, “For Your Information” and “Hide If You Want to Hide.” For the recording session the group was teamed with producer Tony Clarke, who also worked with the Tremeloes. This time they employed an authentic Middle Eastern instrument, a bouzouki. Played in tandem with an electric lead guitar, the acoustic bouzouki gave the record a highly unique and appealing flavor. Unfortunately, despite the high quality and originality of both the material and the production, the record again went nowhere.
Much to the group’s disappointment, their producer turned to outside songwriters for their third and final British single, “I Like the Way” (written by Richie Cordell) and “I Don’t Know Why.” Nevertheless the Cedars infused the songs with their own Eastern-derived sound to pleasing effect. When this single failed to click, Decca not only dropped the group, but also presented them with a huge bill for studio time. Defeated and nearly destitute, the four Cedars headed home to Beirut, leaving their prized musical equipment behind.
The story didn’t end there, though—not quite anyway. The following year, 1969, “For Your Information” was released in Turkey, where it became a huge hit, going on to be covered by several Turkish artists. The Cedars, though, had by now gone their separate ways. Fortunately, their eight-song recorded legacy remains to remind the world of their uniquely exotic sound. Thanks a lot for that.

Portuguese Contribution to Soul Music
JESSE&JAMES-BELTER SINGLES COLLECTION – 1967-1970
The group is formed by Antonio and Fernando Lameirinhas .They lived with their Portuguese parents in Belgium, moved to England and caught the soul-virus after playing in a few beat-groups (e.g. Screaming Lord Sutch). In 1967 they return to Belgium and form the J.J.Band.
From "Wit-lof from Belgium" : "A few flops, half a hit ("Half a woman") and the two hits "Move" and "Something for nothing" led Jess & James with the J.J.Band to the top."
After the hits, dissension grew between the frontmen (who wanted to continue to make soul music) and their backing band (who aspired to make music in the style of the American group Chicago). At the end of 1968 their ways separated.
Jess & James then formed a group around Scott Bradford (who later married teen-idol Anneke Soetaert). Later on, they moved to Amsterdam and formed another unsuccessful attempt to make it big again "Sail-Joia".
The J.J.-Band went their own way (in 1971 they changed their name to "Plus"). They evolved to a style called souljazz. Among the member of the J.J.Band and Plus figured people like Francis Goya (Real name Francis Weyer, who later on had a worldwide hit with "Nostalgia" and would have millions of romantic souls dream away on his guitar melodies), Bruno Castelluci (jazz-drummer known troughout the world) etc ...
Now together with the BELTER label Groovie Records compiled here the best tracks of their release to BELTER.
The LP will be out soon after the summer with booklet and photos about the band!!
NEXT RELEASES WILL INCLUDE MORE JESSE&JAMES REISSUES AND OTHER BELTER TITLES!
DARA PUSPITA - LP
Dara Puspita (Flower Girls) was Indonesia’s most successful girl band of the 1960s. While there were many popular female vocalists in Indonesia at that time, they nearly all relied on the services of a backing band. Dara Puspita was one of the few girl groups who actually played all their own music as well.
Dara Puspita hailed from the city of Surabaya in East Java and first formed in 1964 with the line-up of sisters Titiek Adji Rachman (Titiek A.R.) on guitar and Lies Soetisnowati Adji Rachman (Lies A.R.) on bass, along with Susy Nander on drums and Ani Kusuma on rhythm guitar. In April 1965 Lies left the band for a month to finish school and was replaced on bass by Titiek Hamzah. When Lies returned she took the place of Ani on rhythm guitar and Titiek Hamzah stayed on as bass player. It was with this line-up that the band set out to conquer the world.

Almost Tomorrow is the third full length collaboration album from Section 27 Netlabel founders Tam Ferrans and Andrew Paterson, under their Nonima & theAudiologist guise. This time around the sound is more melodic, and has a definite feeling of a complete and more mature sound than heard on the previous LP's "Dystopian Battle Hymns" and "Ceremony After Amputation". If you are familiar with their individual projects you may even be in for a slight surprise, as the tracks are not as beat driven like before, but are more atmospheric and sound, well... "bigger". In its 75 minutes, Almost Tomorrow takes you on a trip from the digital rain-soaked cavernous scraping in "Thoughtograph", the ethereal beat jittering of "The Colour of Rain", intercepted transmissions from unknown places in "Com-Intercept", "Ganzfeld"s huge yet strangely insect-like beats until everything you knew comes crashing around you in "Almost Tomorrow". Burning pianos, glitched out soundscapes and intricately programmed beatplay, this may well be their best work to date. Consider it the soundtrack to a rainy overcast day, but with just that glimmer of sunshine peeking from the clouds. "Almost Tomorrow" wears its heart on its sleeve.
