Maximum Music and Universal Music Canada proudly present the November 8th release of Grrrls With Guitars Volume 3. The collection,16 tracks strong celebrates the diversity of some of the finest BC/Yukon women songwriters of today featuring Nettwerk recording artists Po’ Girl, Juno nominee Kim Barlow and Maximum recording artist Christa Couture.
Created & developed by artist/producer Nadine Davenport, the Grrrls with Guitars compilation and showcase series, now in its 11th season, has become one of the longest running and most successful singer-songwriter events in Canada. From jazz to acoustic pop, bluegrass to alt country, to modern folk, GWG has showcased over 500 women songwriters to packed houses and outstanding reviews.
Two previous releases (Vol. 1 & Vol. 2) have showcased some of the country’s brightest emerging talent including recording artists Kinnie Starr, Spirit of the West alumni Linda McRae, Adrienne Pierce and three time BC Country Music Association nominee Angela Harris. Both discs have received great reviews as well as positive support from both CBC and College/Campus/Community Radio. To date there have been 4 very successful GWG tours and showcases at many festivals including the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, The ROCKRGRL Festival in Seattle, Folk On The Rocks in Yellowknife, and Music West.
Watch for numerous Canadian tour dates this fall and next spring as Davenport takes some of the Vol. 3 gals out on the road including Christa Couture, Coco Love Alcorn, GreenTaRA, HECTOR, and ASHRIOT and more out on the road.

I have finally hit the road on a busking tour to raise money for War Child, Coast-to-coast – 50 cities – ALL PROCEEDS TO WARCHILD. Why? 66% of all war victims are CHILDREN. Shocked like me? War Child helps these children that have been affected by war. Check out the new blog – the whole story is up there. Love to have you be a part of it.
You’ll find a Blog, Tour page and a Bio page. I’ll be blogging daily from the road.
Just dropping by to hear some great Grrrl tunes! I still have fond memories of being an honorary Grrrl with Marjie at the Railway Club all those years ago! I think there's a photo somewhere on my profile of an old "Grrrls With Guitars" poster on the wall in my studio!
sylvi macCormac composed this Mash Up / miX from various Tracks of the Grrrls with Guitars Vols 1, 2 & 3 and Buffy Sainte-Marie et al. Train Wreck refers to the style of Radio Programming that ' shunts ' dis parate genres of Music. How can a Train Wreck be invis able ?
Grrrls (invis able) Train Wreck will be part of a larger Canadian Womens' Railway Tracks, which will avail able for Download, comin' down the Tracks. Why is the Grrrls (invis able) Train Wreck (4:33) and does it have any relation to John Cage's Silence (4:33) ?
What does the Railway have to do with GRRRLS ? with thanks, the infamous Railway Club hosted the GRRRLSWITHGUITARS for 8 years from 1994-2002. All the while Grrrls perform at The Railway Club the little train goes round & round, tho sometimes the antique train goes still & silent.
the Railway (as fact & metaphor) has transported and run through and over many of our lives, breaking us apart and binding us together as community in the unique and changing cultural horizon that is Canada. We are connected by our Tracks and Hearts upon the Lines. Grrrls continue to be born, grow older, wiser (or maybe no wiser) and continue to Rock & Roll :-)
