The Blues Show On GTFM 107.9's Blurbs |
About me:
Bob and Norm present the Blues Show on GTFM 107.9, in South Wales and LIVE on World-Wide Web, every Monday from 10 to midnight. They play the best in Blues, from Delta to Chicago to London to Texas. Blues Show Bob says: 'We feature anyone playing Blues music well on our show. We are comfortable with playing music from pub bands alongside International megastars.' During the years in which we have been broadcasting the Blues Show, we have interviewed many great Blues performers including Savoy Brown's Kim Simmons, Tony McPhee, Walter Trout, Connie Lush, Lazy Lester, Studebaker John, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Zoot Money, Paul Jones, Dave Kelly, John Mayall, Eric Bibb, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Buddy Whittington, the late Long John Baldry, Nine Below Zero, Oli Brown, Dani Wilde, Dr. David Evans, Toby Walker and many more. We have also given World Premieres to a number of CDs by such diverse performers as Danny Bryant, Gregg Wright, Ian Parker, Blue Traffic and Storm Warning. We have also hosted a number of Blues Festivals introducing many stars of the Blues world like John Hammond, Hubert Sumlin, Pinetop Perkins, James Cotton as well as a multitude of British Blues performers. A fairly recent development for the Blues Show is the number of artists keen to come to the studio to record Live sets. So far we've welcomed Hamilton Loomis, Derrin Nauerndorf, Ian Parker, The Boogie Men, Brazilian Big Gilson, Sherman Robertson, Ian Siegal, Dave Arcari, The Spikedrivers, Rob Tognoni, Racing Cars, Aynsley Lister, Steve Arvey, Blue Traffic and Jay Tamkin to our studio. We've now established contact with an Indie studio as we can no longer use the resources at the University of Glamorgan. The quality of their work is superb and many well-known names - including Danny Bryant, Sean Webster, Jack The Biscuit, Claire Simone, Stevie Finn and SJ3 are queueing to record for us in coming months. Why not join the list?

On this week's show (November 24) we have a number of 'new faces' for some of our listeners and the return of an old friend with a new CD:-
We'll be playing a track from Sheffield's 'The Robin Hoare Band' as well as one from Mike Markey and Nick Jones's new CD 'Heads of the Valleys.' (No clues as to where they come from!
And... we'll be playing something from Studebaker John's new CD 'Waiting On The Sun' - we were invited to the launch party in Buddy Guy's Legends on Wednesday but the invite came just this morning... (Whilst we're famed for jet-setting to Cardiff, Swansea, Tenby, Treorchy and Abertillery - proof positive that we're true jetsetters of the Blues - this just didn't give us enough notice to change our previous arrangements over here...) Tesco's Tuesday, Library on Thursday, dog for worming powders on Friday...
We'll also be celebrating John Mayall's looming birthday and Track the Track will be 'Help Me' - three versions coming up on the show. And the local gig guide. I don't know how we'll squeeze it all into one little 2-hour show. But we'll give it a go!
Love to have your company tonight!
QUESTION:
Is this now the only dedicated Blues Show broadcast to the World from Wales? Or is it simply the best?

Who I'd like to meet:
Robert Plant - He's like a manic depressive of the octaves. I admire his work and have now forgiven him for almost bursting my eardrums with Zeppelin in 1972! (Long John Baldry once confided to us that he saw Zeppelin playing the Marquee in their early days but they were so loud, they made his nose bleed)!*******
Eric Clapton - He's probably done more to popularise Blues music than anyone since Muddy Waters. I take my hat off to him and if he's ever in Pontypridd, we'll spare him a few minutes. Might even make him coffee and invite him to relax and play guitar with us... (Bob will jam with anyone; teach them a couple of chords). **********
Muddy Waters and Billy Holiday - sadly, too late!
