The Dutch/Surinamese Ro Halfhide is a singer-songwriter from Amsterdam who sings in the tradition of singers like Paul Simon, Ben Harper and crooners like Gene Kelley. He has in the meantime attracted a small but dedicated following and played in 2008 at the Noorderslag Festival, Popronde and De Parade. In the beginning of 2009 he played together with rappers Typhoon and Blaxtar. On stage he’ll be playing with a band or solo.
Halfhide is above all well known as a producer and organisator and co-founder of the Amsterdam Songwriters Guild (ASG). Doing this, he played a huge part in the present success of the singer-songwriter within the Dutch club and festival circuit. Halfhide produced both Lucky Fonz III’s debut album as his ‘Life Is Short’ (2007), and helped on his latest album 'A Family Like Yours' (2009). He also produced the records of Amarins & le Gatte Negre and Tududuh. He cooperated on Claw Boys Claw’s ‘Pajama Day’ (2008).
Ro Halfhide’s debut album will be due after the summer of 2009. This album will - in Halfhide’s own words - “contain songs that were dragged out of my soul, and through my dreams hit the surface”.
De Nederlands/Surinaamse Ro Halfhide is een singer-songwriter uit Amsterdam met songs in de traditie van zangers als Paul Simon, Ben Harper en ouderwetse crooners als Gene Kelley. Ro Halfhide's debuutalbum wordt verwacht na de zomer van 2009. Dit album zal -in Halfhide's eigen woorden- 'bestaan uit nummers die uit mijn ziel zijn gesleurd, en via mijn dromen weer naar buiten zijn geslingerd'.
Inmiddels zijn 200 boeken verkocht en de pers is positief over Muziekreis door het Berlijn van toen en nu - van jazzhel tot technohemel.

Het tweede album Mythomania is inmiddels alweer verschenen op het Asthmatic Kitty label (bekend van Sufjan Stevens, DM Stith en My Brightest Diamond) en is nu te beluisteren op de Luisterpaal.
