Just a few we could think of, The Verve, The Troy Enclosure, The Cure, The Beta Band, Moth, Somebodys Mind, Neil Young, Mogwai, Ride, Icer, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Beck, Led Zep, MC5, Satie, Arvo Part, . . . ?
Heliconia's debut album, Glad You Were Born, is now available on Isolation Recordings, featuring 11 tracks, including work done with producer Pat Collier (Primal Scream, House of Love).
Glad You Were Born captures the band's distinctive combination of laidback stoner grooves alternating with sheets of guitar and distortion.
The album has already had a great review at shotgunreviews.com. Reviewer Shawn Delaney wrote: "With a dynamic and tasteful mix of neo and classic shoegaze, Heliconia are primed to make a big step into the face of modern music."
To coincide with the release of Heliconia's debut album, one track recorded with Pat Collier - Witness - features on a three-track CD single released on the Club AC30 label and is available on www.clubac30.com.
