Join us for the renewal of gay cultural ambition.
The House of Homosexual Culture enters its third year with a programme that continues to explore the shared cultural heritage of lesbian and gay people through a programme of events, activities and salons.
In previous seasons, we delved into the history of queer pop and beefcake photography, we dissected drag through a unique live performance and trawled through the TV archives with the BFI.
We've celebrated the role of "homo homemakers" in our fabulous annual Fayres - 1000 queers in a church baking, knitting, singing, dancing and pickling. Our irregular HALL OF FAME events honour heroes of queer culture at special gala celebrations. See the blog (above) called "Archive" for a full list of what we've done.
You can keep up to date with our current programme by looking at the latest newsletter blog, above. We hope to meet you soon!
Here are Fenella Fielding and Bette Bourne, photographed by Leee Black Childers at Bette's induction into the House Hall of Fame, May 2008. This photo brings together the Stonewall Riots, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, glam and punk (Leee), the Carry On films and the English revue tradition (Fenella), Gay Liberation Front and queer theatre (Bette). Only at the House of Homosexual Culture will you find these connections.
