INFERNO WITH MANCHESTER ROCK RADIO 106.1 DJ PAUL ANTHONY, FOR THEIR INTERVIEW AS WINNERS OF FUTURE CLASSICS 07 11 08
Influences
• Kyuss
• Mastodon
• Queens Of The Stone Age
• Motorhead
• Down
• System Of A Down
• Pink Floyd
• Clutch
It all began with three teenagers making some noise in an attic in August ‘03
Nine short months after Inferno started, they released a four track demo entitled the “Phoenix EP”. With a promising and exciting mix of Classic rock and stoner sludge, it left all who heard it, craving for more.
A session for BBC Radio Wales soon followed with DJ Adam Walton describing the trio as “Extremely Precious”
Raised on a steady diet of Kyuss, Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, Pink Floyd, Clutch and Motorhead, Inferno (Joe Harvey, Bass and vocals / Liam Jepson, Guitar / Jay Lee, Drums) are always focused on honing their craft and building a reputation as a powerful, destructive and unforgettable live band. They continue to keep turning heads every time they play and they swear by their mantra, “anytime, anyplace to anyone”.
In the last three years the band have covered most of the UK, including London, Cardiff, Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford and countless towns and villages. They have even travelled to Russia and Holland with dates in Finland booked for August ’07.
Inferno were humbled last year, when they were named band of the month on “Danko Radio” a Canadian on-line radio station based in Ontario. They were interviewed via a web-link and it was a crowning achievement for the band.
June’07 sees the trio releasing “The Suicide Pact” six tracks of the band’s rawest, heaviest and most honest material to date. From the unrelenting freight train pace of opener, “El Toro”, to the razor-sharp revenge anthem “Judas”.
The Suicide Pact documents the raw emotion and destructive nature of modern life for the band.
INFERNO'S 6 TRACK CD "THE SUICIDE PACT" WAS REVIEWED BY DAVE MUSSON FOR POWERPLAY MUSIC MAGAZINE 92. This is his review:
Inferno are building a reputation as a powerful and unforgettable live band and continue to keep turning heads every time they play with their brand of modern catchy hard hitting rock/metal. Raised on a steady diet of Queens of the Stone Age, Motorhead, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Clutch, Kyuss and Mastodon, Inferno are certainly special and their EP 'The Suicide Pact' is an example of one of the hottest heavy rock sounds in the UK – signed or otherwise. They’re polished and tight with flawless time changes; but they're RAW, they're cool and composed yet BRUTAL, it’s fast, it’s furious with riffs with catchy hook lines in abundance.
In the last three years the Welsh power trio have covered most of the UK, they have also played in Russia, Holland and Finland. Their latest CD features their rawest, heaviest and most honest material to date, documenting the raw emotion and destructive nature of modern life. They played an amazing set at the first METALBONE NIGHTFEST on the 22nd Sept 2007, which was filmed and 3 of their song’s videos were featured on a TV programme called Ex-Tube on the Sky Extreme Sports Channel week starting 29th Oct 2007. “Inferno's sound is refreshingly original, and is a faultless example of how powerful three musicians can be when they really connect. This EP is immensely difficult to fault, its only downside being the fact that it isn't a full-length album. Inferno are by far one of the UK's best unsigned acts and you can't help thinking that with this much talent, it is surely only a matter of time before someone spots them and picks them up.” 9/10 Dave Musson
BARRY'S REVIEW FROM WWW.BARMOUTH.COM
I approached the Buffs club while Inferno were playing and thought it was a Motorhead track being played through the PA.
The sound is that tight and hard hitting. High energy is an understatement.
All three musicians are more than competent, the drummer is one of the finest I have heard anywhere, providing a seemingly endless supply of imaginative fills, while keeping a driving beat.
If you like powerful, no nonsense rock, bands don't come much better than INFERNO.
KELII'S REVIEW FROM EARDRUM BUZZ FANZINE
VENUE "GRAND CENTRAL" - MANCHESTER 07th AUG 08
I made a special effort to go and watch INFERNO this evening, hurtling through the doors just minutes before they took to the stage and i was glad i didn't miss a second. This is exactly the kind of band you want to stumble across in your local rock pub. INFERNO are super loud and in your face heavy rock n roll with more than a passing nod to Motorhead.
With todays climate of homogenised screamo bands and produced-within-an-inch-of-it's-life metal it's so refreshing to catch a band that just switch on, turn it up and blast you with balls to the wall, no frills, eardrum shredding, groove laden riffage. This young band from North Wales are worth your time if you like it hard and heavy.
