'Robb Johnson & The Irregulars albums are always something pretty special, but with Love & Death & Politics the UK’s most consistently strong songwriter has excelled with a collection that offers a fascinating, absorbing and essential insight into the Britain of today’ Sean McGhee, RocknReel
DOES WHAT IT SAYS IN THE TITLE.
14 SONGS BY “ENGLAND’S FINEST SONGWRITER SINCE
RICHARD THOMPSON”, “ONE OF BRITAIN’S MOST CHALLENGING
SONGWRITERS” (THE DAILY TELEGRAPH), POWERED BY
JOHN FORRESTER (EX-PRESSGANG & NEW MODEL ARMY OFF-SHOOT
NOZZLE) ON BASS, & CHARLIE WAYGOOD (EX-CULT PUNK-POPSTERS
SHELLEY’S CHILDREN) ON DRUMS, & DECORATED BY JOHNSON’S
ELECTRIC GUITAR & THE LEGENDARY TRADITIONAL MELODEON,
OF ROGER WATSON (MUCKRAM WAKES, BOKA HALAT etc etc),
& A GUEST APPEARANCE BY ATTILA THE STOCKBROKER ON VIOLA.
SINCE THE RELEASE OF THE LAST CD, THE CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED
“ALL THAT WAY FOR THIS” (“ROBB’S MOST ACCESSIBLE ALBUM TO
DATE...THE GUY’S STATUS AS A NATIONAL TREASURE SHOULD NOT
BE UNDERESTIMATED” WAS THE OPINION OF THE fROOTS REVIEWER)
ROBB & THE IRREGULARS HAVE GONE FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
AS A BAND, & THIS IS VERY MUCH REFLECTED IN THE SOUND OF
THE NEW ALBUM.
“LOVE & DEATH & POLITICS” IS A GROUND LEVEL VIEW OF THE
CONDITION OF ALBION; THE SONGS ENHANCE ROBB’S REPUTATION
AS A SONGWRITER & THE PERFORMANCES SURELY MAKE THIS ONE OF
THE MOST EXCITING BANDS ROBB HAS WORKED WITH SO FAR.
“LOVE & DEATH & POLITICS” IS A PROPER-PARTNER RELEASE.

Love 'the inexcusable' Robb. Great song about the class bullshit we're exposed to in this country. Oh why didn't we have a revolution like the French... Think you'd enjoy my song about Palestine 'We Love Our children' or 'so far from america' about trying to get into the USA - if you get a chance with your busy schedule! Cheers Andy

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

I recorded the above video of me reciting my poem "The World Is Planned" at this year's May Day demo in Manchester. It's not the most tuneful of my musical poetry, but stick with it - the lyrics are important!
You may also like to read a short document I wrote today on Towards a Theory of Everything which is my attempt to unify quantum mechanics and relativity theory by taking free will decisions into account! I'm not a physics expert but my knowledge of artificial intelligence and politics (including Marxism which is incompatible with free will) helped me come to some important conclusions about how the world and minds work!
