Jacob Moon comes by it honestly. His mother is a singer, and his father cut his teeth playing 12-string in Kingston Trio-style folk bands of the 60s. Moon himself came to music in his teen years, when he often skipped school to work on lifting guitar solos by greats such as Mark Knopfler and the Edge. Since then, he has been refining his craft and redefining what it means to be a singer, a songwriter, and a guitarist. His high level of skill in each of these areas has meant that he has been able to tour solo most of the time, and his touring has brought him clear across Canada and into the US.
His passionate vocals and inspired lyrics are given flight by his total command of the guitar, which at times sounds like an entire orchestra, owing to his use of the JamMan, a live looping device that allows him to more fully realize his onstage ambitions as a solo artist. The opportunity to hear and experience a Jacob Moon show is not to be missed.
He has four successful independently produced CDs to his credit, incuding "Eventide"(2005), his latest CD, which has earned him 5 Hamilton Music Awards nominations, top honours at the Unisong Song contest in Hollywood, CA and 'Folk artist of the year' by the Toronto Independent Music Awards in Oct '06.
Social justice is something very close to Jacob's heart, and so for many years he has been active in raising funds for many worthy organizations through his concerts, including: Compassion Canada, International Justice Mission, ADRA, Wesley Urban Ministries, and many private schools across Canada.
