Biography:
It all started on September 30th, 1976 when Jake Childs entered the world in the city of Austin, Texas. It was clear early on Jake's life mission was going to be some expression in music. His father played and toured with the Navy Jazz band- a trumpet player- whose musical influence saw Jake pick up the same instrument as well as the guitar, bass, and keys and drums. His willingness to spend time practicing, coupled with an open mind to new sounds took Jake on a journey through Rock and Jazz to Techno and House.
His early experiences with dance music in the 90's took place in San Antonio's various clubs, raves and at endless after hour get-togethers. It was during this time that Jake attended and dropped out from the art institute and what could have been a music and video business degree. It wasn't until moving to Houston that all other styles of music took a back seat to his passion for House. His shift in music preference can be attributed to several factors; the MK Ultra radio show on Rice's KTRU, The Scooby Dew Crews events as well as Wednesday nights at The Orbit Room.

Over the next couple of year's relationships with Johnny Fiasco, Chris Lumm, LBO, Chello and Paul Dyne solidified the next logical step; to start a record label. Uni.form Recordings received its first breath of life. The first release was only a promo disc mix by Sista Stroke titled "Soulquarian." This effort cemented in Jakes mind what he wanted to do

He wanted to develop and nurture Uni.form's identity as an entity to help develop and support the artists that would come to being on the label. Uni-forms roster now boasts some of the best new producers as well as legends in the world of house, such as: Johnny Fiasco, Jacob London, No Assembly Firm, Pete DaFeet, The Swirl People, Natural Rhythm, The Inland Knights, Santiago and Bushido and Vernon And Dacosta to name a few.

Jakes achievement as a producer and Dj now delivers many frequent flier miles, with bookings in England, Croatia, France, Ireland, New Zealand, South America and South Africa. Releases of Jakes production work has appeared on labels such as Drop Music, Seasons, Fetish, Dust Trax White, Housetown and Vista. Following the success of his first two releases .. Music, Jake’s Perception vol 1 artist album has commenced a new era for Uni.form Recordings.

Jake Childs Moves To South Africa
Jake fell in love with the African country on his first visit and followed His intuition in mid 2007 to move to Cape Town. Jumping right in, Jake got to work on some seriously hot projects with some of the country’s most prolific Dj’s and producers, the like of; Craig De Sousa, Erefaan Pearce, Jimmy Chronic and Lady Lea with whom he is producing her next vocal album. He’s also stuck his mixing fingers in the More Music pie- one of South Africa’s Premier music labels and plans to continue nurturing his first label of love, Uni.form Recordings with the top notch additions of his new South African family.
His you-and-i-form Uni.form approach has seen the label restructure to a 50/50 scheme across the board with all its signed artists. Thus, 50% of its profits are invested back into label to further fund, market and expose the madly talented musicians Jake has a penchant for discovering on his worldly adventures. Elevating his love for music- and communication, through Jake's work ethic, strength of vision and fervent love for communication through sound, will no doubt elevate his productions, label and promotions company to a reputation and status of world class. He may already be there but don't tell him, yet.
“You can live any kind of life that you want on this earth. If you think it, then you can create it. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.”
I just want more people to hear what I have to say and hear what they have to say, because all in all, people are reflections of me, vice versa.

Taken From Interview with Macy Mc Beth 2006 www.undergroundhouse.net
Why South Africa?

I love it in South Africa; the people are really into the house scene. Cape Town is off the chain. In Johannesburg, I played this huge festival called H2O- 10-15,000 people going mad to the music! That was just crazy. We are starting a label there called Spoonfed with the people who brought me out. A nice little tech-house label- it's going to be fun!
What's going to be the first release on Spoonfed?
Some tracks I've been holding onto for a while – "Voodoo Religion" and "Curse Of he King." I just have a feeling about tracks – where they should go and when I should release them. It's to help my friends out in South Africa. They've shown me love so I must do the same.

What inspires you to make music?

I feel like I have something to do here – because I was given something, and I feel it's my duty to give back. I think the music starts diminishing the more I get into the self-absorbed – the "I made this" – but actually, I didn't make it, it's the energy that goes through me. I want to use that flow and the doors that open up to me to help doors open up for other people too. The whole thing is that I like to communicate with people. I just want more people to hear what I have to say and hear what they have to say, because all in all, people are reflections of me, and vice versa.
What has this industry taught you?
That shit doesn't happen overnight. It takes work. I mean, it can happen overnight, but it's going to be a difference between a one hit wonder and somebody like Johnny Fiasco. That motherfucker's been in the game for a long time, putting in work hardcore, dealing with a lot of people all the time. Everybody respects him, and you can't fuck with that dude. Then you have a one hit wonder who releases one huge dance hit, and nobody's ever heard of them before or after. I don't want to rush things. I'm in this for the long haul. Just got to play your cards right.

I just think that my one of my favorite house mix moments is Derrick's "Sessions" when he's mixing you shit and it's like "It's about to go down!" mixed in with that hella sick acid line that any soul would arrest to the illumination of funk acid GNOSIS!

adaptation is a truly unique characteristic. you should really be proud because there's tons of people in the world who struggle with the inability to adapt everyday.

Adamic Ecstacy is a term from my Psychology of Religion text book that is used to denote trance states in which the person is "speaking in tounges" or gibberrish. Supposedly it's the original language that Adam spake.

This is the primal "words of power" in which the state is experienced and linguistic phenomenoa occurrs afterword. The reverse of vibrating the divine names or MANTRA and then the state is achieved afterwords.

This is all stuff that I can work to make more accurrate and it's ruff but it goes something like that.
