James currently plays with James Buckley Trio, Mystery Palace, The Pines, Padhandlers, Foodteam Trio, and formally co-lead experimental Mpls band Poor Line Condition. Nominated for bass player of the year in 2005 by the Minnesota Music Awards. Featured artist at the Sur Scene Jazz Festival 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008, Mpls, St. Paul international film festival 2005, Sound Unseen music and film festiveal, 2004, 2005, and 2006, Bent International circuit-bending festival New York 2006, Los Angeles 2007, Minneapolis 2007. When James is was not leading his own ensembles, he has been heard within those of The Pines, Alicia Wiley, Chris Thomson, Patrick Harison, Ryan Olcott(Foodteam), Noel Akchote, Benoit Delbecq, Pablo Cuerco, Stuart D' Rozario, Willy Wisely, Ed Harcourt, Daniel Johnston, Michael Lewis, and Robert Skoro. James has had the privilege to record bass for James Buckley Trio, Dosh, The Pines, Robert Skoro, Mystery Palace, Adam To(Tentacle Boy), Jesse Marks(Pixel Farm), I Self Devine, Bison Forest, Mel Gibson and the Pants, Omaur Bliss, Gayngs, Padhandlers, Chris Koza, Roma Di Luna, and Poor Line Condition.

Hey James! Just stopped by to check out your really cool tunes and say hi, and also to thank you for reminding me when I was about 19 "We're just babies, we have lots of time" when i was stressed about just beginning to learn jazz and totally forgetting to enjoy life. When I saw how laid back you were it taught me a lesson that is most thankfully still with me!I still remember you jamming with Lehman, goessl, tim glenn, jason craft--I was inspired to want to play like that too.
