JAZZATOR is an art music/ contemporary jazz trio which uses unconventional harmonies and rhythmical structures to create vivid musical images. The band marries the freedom of jazz to the harmonic vocabulary of contemporary art music and adds the vigor of funk-related genres to the mixture. JAZZATOR's sound is based on ground-breaking vocal parts and rich piano arrangements by Marina Sobyanina, quirky badass drumming by Sergey Balashov and penetrating baritone saxophone sound by Oleg Mariakhin. The trio's music sometimes gets pretty rough and bouncy and yet the beauty of it is never compromised, much to the credit of Marina Sobyanina's breathtaking voice. The mood changes from drama to comedy to gentle meditation. The band's vocalist, pianist and composer Marina Sobyanina develops an instrumental approach towards vocals taking inspiration from such artists as Bobby McFerrin (with whom she sang in Moscow staging of improvisational opera "Bobble") , Mike Patton and others. JAZZATOR is constantly performing at various Russian and European music festivals, most notably Russian 'Usadba-Jazz' and Swiss 'Jazzwerkstatt Bern'. Apart from performing Marina Sobyanina's tunes, the band has been involved in a number of interdisciplinary projects, combining music with contemporary dance, theatre and cinematography. The band has released their debut album in 2010. Release of their second album "The Dome"' is scheduled for April 2012 (Art Beat label) ------------------------------------------------------------------ JAZZATOR создают образную выразительную музыку на пересечении различных музыкальных идиом. Дерзкие вокальные эксперименты и насыщенные фортепианные аранжировки Марины Собяниной , хлесткие партии барабанщика Сергея Балашова , вихри саксофонов Олега Маряхина - все это звучание JAZZATOR. Несмотря на то, что JAZZATOR в своем творчестве ломают и выворачивают наизнанку многие существующие каноны, их музыка столь же красива, сколько и дерзка. Каждый концерт JAZZATOR неповторим. Одни и те же композиции обретают новые неожиданные грани при каждом следующем исполнении. Музыка JAZZATOR пробуждает глубокие эмоции в слушателе. Острая драма сменяется комедией, а затем умиротворенной медитацией. Вокальное мастерство Марины Собяниной уже успели оценить лидеры мировой сцены экспериментального вокала. В Январе 2010 года Марина приняла участие в импровизационной опере Бобби МакФеррина «Боббл», в данный момент она учится Готландской школе музыкальной композиции (Швеция). JAZZATOR регулярно выступают на различных фестивалях и с сольными концертами в России, Германии, Швейцарии, Голландии и других странах. Группа выпустила свой дебютный альбом в декабре 2010 года. В настоящий момент музыканты работают над своим вторым диском, выпуск которого запланирован на начало 2012 года. Помимо концертной деятельности JAZZATOR часто бывают задействованы в междисциплинарных синтетических проектах, где музыка комбинируется с танцем (российско-бельгийский проект Campo&Станция, Кострома), театром (коллаборация с литовским театром Psilicone Theatre, Factories of imagination, Иваном Вырыпаевым - спектакль"Пауза") и кино (озвучивание немых фильмов в архитектурном кинолектории МУАР).
