   About Jeff Ellis
Originally from southwestern Virginia, U.S.A. but now relocated to Duncan B.C. Canada, on beautiful Vancouver Island. Jeff was born into a musical family. His father Ricky is a 5 time World Champion mandolin player. Starting at the age of 13 Jeff began learning the acoustic bass, followed by mandolin, guitar and banjo. He has performed as part of his fathers band Common Ground for the past 10 years, winning band and individual competitions throughout the United States. His numerous recognitions include the titles of Virginia State Champion acoustic guitar player, Virginia State Champion acoustic bass player and over 50 first place awards. Over the years Jeff has played with several notable bands including; B.G. Express, SPBGMA Award band champion Appalachian Express, The Bluegrass Cardinals & and has filled in with several national acts on various instruments. At the age of 23 Jeff auditioned for, and won the job of acoustic bass player with David Parmley & Continental Divide where he traveled extensively with this ground breaking, award winning group. A sought after session player, he has recorded with bands and solo artists for a variety of major record labels as well on banjo, guitar, mandolin & acoustic bass. His guitar playing can be heard sharing the spotlight with IBMA award winner Kenny Smith on Pincastle Recording artist Nothin' Fancys' release '' Reflections ''. 2007 found Jeff touring as bass player for CMA and Grammy award winner Marty Raybon ( of country super group Shenendoah fame ) and his exciting band Full Circle. Jeff has spent the past 4 years while not performing, teaching private lessons on bass, guitar, banjo and mandolin to students of all ages and skill levels.

Thanks for the kind words.
I love playing with banjo players! There are a lot of banjo jokes, but they can really be the rythmn glue!
