Yeah, it's been a blast...a paradoxly named stress filled dream.
The humor magazine was Nonsense Humor Magazine out of Hofstra University. I was their business manager and then Managing Editor (and a writer/artist for the whole time). And today the current editor-in-chief just appointed me the Nonsense-alumni affairs representative. To quote a well known Al Pacino character "Once I think I'm out, they puuuuullllll me back in"
The movie was (at the time) called "Every Picture Tells A Story". Due to the fact that I couldn't stand that name (and the fact that the rights to the song are not as easy to get as I initially thought) it's now renamed the not much better "Precious Moments". It doesn't matter...at this rate it'll never be anything more than space on my hard drive due to all the problems I've encountered.
I've got two scripts in the works right now. Both not ready for pre-production yet...though one might get there by the end of the year. Neither have real names either.
Hi Jeff. Yes, I sometimes use lines from my parodies but, I'm doing less parodies and more jokes these days. Although, a couple of weeks ago, I did a show, in which I did 8 minutes of jokes and 9 minutes of parodies. There were two headliners there (one of which was an older comic who's been on Johnny Carson and David Letterman. He was very complimentary of both my standup and the songs (after first questioning me on whether I got the jokes and song lyrics off the internet). I told him I had written them, then put them on the internet. Anyway, after that, he felt compelled to take me aside and reminisce about his pinnacles in the comedy business. On Oct. 24, I'll be doing a set at the Comedy Studio in Harvard Square. It is considered one of the top clubs in the country for new talent. It's only a Wednesday night but, if I do well, they'll put me on weekends and pay me. I miss all of the folks at Amiright but, I just don't have the time to write parodies like I used to. Gotta hit the shower and get to work. I hope all is well with you, Jeff. Keep being funny.
Me too. I tried dropping by the forums every now and then, but college, and editing a humor magazine and shooting a movie all got in the way. I should drop by and see if anyone still remembers me. I haven't written a real parody in ages...maybe I will again.
For all the old amiright-ers popping up around here, I am the one known as Billy Florio. I used to write for the site a long time ago...wow. I feel old.
Well well WELL, fancy meetin' YOU here! Do you, me, and The Mighty Spaff represent the first wave of a mass migration of old timers from AmIRight to MySpace?
