As a huge fan of The Cult and their style, I emulated the illustrations of Rick Griffin. Here is an envelope I painted in the 80's.
I went to the Cult's shows, sent gifts I had painted until the big day I met Ian Astbury, who kissed me, took me under his wing, and with commitment, intorduced me to everyone in his circle including Jim Marshal (their legendary tour photoographer who helped make photography substantial for me). Ian got me to Seattle, to the table of long haired musicans talking about rock, motorcycles, philosophy, politics and the big world. For the past 21 years I've been pursuing art full time with the love of music, with the musicians and the brilliant people who get the music heard. Their passions helped make all that was inside me real, my ideals and understandings of what's possible with feelings, ideas and art. ..

I swerved to miss a squirrel in the road 24 years ago, wrecked my car and broke my neck. I saw Oz behind the curtain. I have come alive as a ghost.
I paint in Seattle Washington inspired by nature's patterns, waves, ripples in sand, folds of mountains and iridescent oils on wet parkinglots. I am most interested in the physics of life. The paintings I've posted here could be considered watercolors since washes of water deliver the pigment but the real medium is the System --into which energies are applied, like a weather, electrical, vascular or ecosystem.
