John de Kadt is a percussionist, poet, and a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. He has studied and played ethnic hand percussive instruments for over 25 years and plays drums from India, Ireland, Brazil, Turkey, Egypt, Africa and Cuba. He’s studied with percussion masters around the world, taught drumming on PBS and live nationally on NBC. He’s performed with Steve Gorn, Tabala Rasa, Ganesh Kumar, Glen Velez, Subash Chandran, Baba Olatunji, Robert Bly and others. John’s played on many recordings and has his own CD "This Rhythm Is Not Mine", which has received excellent reviews. His new CD "Eight" featuring Benji Wertheimer, Wah, Subash Chandran and others will be out in March of 08. John also plays and tours nationaly with the Alternative World ensemble HuDost.
John loves to swim in cold water ...take hot baths... hike in the woods for long periods of time...and eat large amounts of raw cacao smoothie.
