  • Bio

As a singer and songwriter, John Korbel has developed his craft through a diversity of musical experiences. He has performed in venues from small coffee houses to large nightclubs, and showrooms. He has opened shows for a wide variety of major acts including Jay Leno, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Hooters, and Asleep at the Wheel. And he has been a finalist in songwriting competitions in the US and overseas. His song "Can't Bring Myself to Cry" is currently featured in the independent film "Arizona Seaside", which has been screened at major film festivals. John began his musical career in the Philadelphia area, making recordings with some musician friends. These demos came to the attention of Philadelphia radio station WMMR, which included John’s composition “Don’t You Love to Play” on an all Philadelphia compilation album. WMMR also sponsored performances by John and his band. Next came a stint as lead vocalist for the very popular Philadelphia area band Jellyroll. The powerful horn section, and driving rhythm section of this eight-piece group were the perfect complement to John’s soulful vocal style. Jellyroll became one of the top bands in the Philadelphia area, and provided John a new vehicle for his songwriting. Several of John’s compositions, were featured in full hour live radio broadcasts by top Philadelphia stations WMMR and WYSP. In 2007, John's song "Bourbon Street Taps" recieved First Prize in the Jazz/New Age Catagory of the MOVA Songwriting Competition, sponsored by the Mountain Valley Arts Council in Alabama. John has also received national airplay for his song “Standing Tall for America”, dedicated to the Armed Forces. It was the 1 “Most Added” single by Adult Contemporary radio stations across the US for the week of 10/24/01, according to New Music Weekly. John has performed at the House of Blues in Orlando as part of the “Living Room Jam” series. His song “Everybody’s in the Band” was selected as a finalist at the 2002 International Song of Peace Competition in Ireland. In 2003, Orlando Smooth Jazz radio station WLOQ booked John and his band to perform on the Southwest Airlines Main Stage for the Winter Park Sidewalk Arts Festival, always one of the top drawing events in Central Florida. Hello John!

TODAY'S THOUGHT IS ON THE POWER OF KINDNESS ...

"You have it easily in your power to increase the sum total of this WORLD'S HAPPINESS.

    How?

By giving A FEW WORDS OF SINCERE APPRECIATION to someone who is LONELY or DISCOURAGED.

Perhaps you will forget tomorrow what KIND WORDS you say today, but the recipient may cherish them OVER A LIFETIME."

     ~ Dale Carnegie
