When I'm able to fight off the cynicism, I'm curious about everything out there in the world. When I'm not, it's hard to stay interested in anything. I track the political scene, both domestic and international and have a bit of a china thing. And I enjoy playing darts on brisk autumn evenings

Recent movies: Rescue Dawn, Children of Men, Hustle and Flow, Wes Anderson's stuff, Hedwig and the Angry Inch. And let's bow our heads briefly for the two masters who were recently lost to the ether--Ingmar Bergman and Michaelangelo Antonioni.

I like books that complicate my world. As my friend V. Passaro says, "Good books corrupt." And a special shout out to Chris Offutt, from whom I cribbed the quote up top.
關於我: I’m the author of two books, Short People, a collection of stories, and The Sabotage Café, a novel, which will be coming out on August 28th.
Before I finally admitted that I don't play well with others, I wrote and directed a bunch of plays. I helped organize and run Nada Theatre’s 1995 Obie award winning Faust Festival and was one of the producers of the 1998 New York RAT conference which brought experimental theatre artists from across the United States together for a week of performance and symposia. My plays include Whimper, Myn and The Ellipse and Other Shapes.
I live in New York City, and teach fiction and playwriting at The Pratt Institute.
