.......................................................... Born in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Joy is a life-long New Yorker. Inspired by her parents, Joy began singing and playing music as soon as she could talk. At the age of 15, Joy began her career as a professional musician when she landed a job with a major New York record label as a producer, engineer and vocal stylist. .... While working in the major label system, Joy contributed her backup vocals, songwriting and producing to numerous radio smashes as well as Grammy nominated songs. Even though she received credit (sometimes!) she was consistently amazed at how greedy record executives would reap the lions share of profits, while her and her creative comrades struggled to pay New York City rents..... This disgust with the system, coupled with a new era of digital entertainment led Joy to the decision to walk away from the label. Having already created 3 bands, Joy was confident that a project would come along. Her only desire was a project that would truly allow her to express herself as an artist and to control her own destiny. Little did she know she would soon meet an up and coming producer named J. Glaze in a Soho restaurant..... Introduced through a mutual friend in December ‘07, Glaze and Joy immediately hit it off. A studio session the following night ensued and it has been off to the races since. Not a day goes by where the two of them are not working on new songs to give to the world. Not only is every song that you are hearing worked on exclusively by Joy and Glaze, it is all being recorded in a basement studio in an old house in New York.....
