Influences
Note: We are true hiphop heads. our knowledge of the birth, death, and inevitable resurrection of hiphop is infinite. Furthermore, we have been influenced by all that have come before us, and pay homage in our music to what they have built, both positive and negative. we are only progressing upwards from their foundation, constantly moving closer to the sky.

Re: Don’t Worry
HIP HOP is not dead – it’s just not on the radio anymore. Hip Hop is not dead to those who truly care about the art, culture, and lifestyle. The lyrics, the content, the emotion. Hip Hop is poetry. It is music. Hip Hop is creativity and imagination. It is potential energy – passion, fire, and confidence all mashed together inside of the human soul, waiting to explode into the nearest microphone.
Hip Hop is not dead. There are millions of survivors. We are four of them.

The Higher Concept (THC) is not a typical collection of rappers. They are an organization committed to preserving the most sacred art form, music. In a society dominated by dollar signs, expression can easily become an endangered species. THC offers listeners a revitalizing perspective on the world around us. Their astute reflections on the world around them and the lives they lead, mixed with their panache for inspiring raw passion in all who hear their music or see them live, produce a product that is positive, irresistible, and has the unique ability to reach any and every age group.
The group is headquartered in Staten Island, New York, and has a solid and steadily growing fan base there as well as in Syracuse, New York and College Park, Maryland. Having done over 40 shows around the Northeast in the past 3 years, THC has outstanding stage experience and has put together some of the most energetic and crowd-pleasing sets to ever come to the venues at which they perform. Besides opening for such artists as Method Man, Afroman, Akrokbatik, Sam Kininger (Soulive), and Ravi Coltrane, THC drew a crowd of over 200 at Syracuse University, where they performed as the headlining act at the Castle Court Spring Bash in 2006. This was all before the four members graduated from three different colleges.
Since receiving their degrees in Marketing, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, and Music History, the group has been utilizing these different skills while focusing all their time and energy on their music. Slowly building their own label called Projectivity, they have been coordinating an ever-expanding group of up and coming artists from Vermont, California, Massachusetts and Upstate New York; all of who share a similar goal in conveying new ideas and topics yet to be discussed in hip-hop today.
“We knew we all had a lot to say and there wasn't going to be any nonsense; we weren't going to be doing the typical rap because we think there are a lot of different things out there that people want to hear. We know the people want a break from the monotony above and below ground. We formed The Higher Concept and since then we've been committed to taking hip-hop to the next level. We bring originality, creativity, and most importantly ‘there's always a message involved.’”
