About me:

NOTE: My main blog is at: http://www.temlynwriting.com/blog

Julia Temlyn loves words, punctuation, and online community building. She enjoys these so much that she has become a Jill-of-all-trades in the publishing and online media industries, including writing, editing, community building/moderating, social networking, etc.

Julia is the owner of Temlyn Writing: freelance writing & editing services, where she works diligently with clients to rescue excess apostrophes, save spliced commas, and repair injured & abused words.

She is also the editor of Musical Reviewer (formerly All About Musicals), editor-in-chief of Writers Remember, and administrator of the Houston Writers & Editors Network.

The highlight of her career thus far? Being interviewed on NPR’s (National Public Radio) The Bryant Park Project as a guest grammarian.

Julia has always been passionate about the written word, and has literally been writing and editing since she could read –- long before she received her B.A. in English -- but she didn’t consider it for a career until she fell in love with the English department after trying out two other majors first (vocal music and communications). She journeyed through college both reading and writing about some of the best literature ever written, and getting graded for it — a dream come true!

All the while she moderated an IRC chatroom where she met the man who would later become her husband. Four years and a bachelor’s degree later she graduated and got married, began freelancing as a writer, editor, and moderator not long after, and has been doing it ever since!

Her topics of specialty include musical theatre, marriage, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, relationships, movies, mental health, women’s health, and health & beauty. Her personal essay, “A Walk in the Clouds,” is featured in Stories of Strength, a compilation of writings by the members of Absolute Write, the proceeds of which benefit disaster victims.

Julia resides outside Houston, Texas, with her amazing husband and their two goofy cats. When time and finances allow, she enjoys visiting her family in Florida and New York (both of which she grew up in). Her hobbies and enjoyable activities include singing, seeing Broadway musicals, reading, geocaching, scrapbooking, drinking tea, watching movies, and spending time with her husband and family & friends.

Grammar God!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!

Congratulations! If your mission in life
is not already to preserve the English tongue,
it should be. You can smell a grammatical
inaccuracy from fifty yards. Your speech is
revered by the underlings, though some may
blaspheme and call you a snob. They're just
jealous. Go out there and change the world.

How grammatically correct are you? (Revised with answer key)
