Influences
Folk and rock from the late 60's and early 70's, Sting and The Police, Eva Cassidy, Bonnie Raitt, random radio influences of 80's rock/pop. Guitar inspiration from Jimmy Paige, Joni Mitchel, Michael Hedges and other greats.
Katrin takes original acoustic-based rock to new and exciting places. Her skillful guitar work and powerful voice make Katrin shine wherever she appears.
Originally from Newton MA, Katrin has been performing in New England clubs and coffeehouses since 1993. She began singing at the age of three, and started violin at age seven. Her love for songwriting was ignited when she picked up the guitar and formed a band at age eighteen. Her classical and rock n’roll background, give her music depth in both melody and rhythm. Katrin’s recent release “Nature Spirit” has been receiving great reviews-
“More than just a local icon. With a voice this powerful the world is at her beck and call”-Douglas Sloan , Metronome Magazine
“With a melodic, passionate songwriting style, the Boston-based Katrin is in a word; spellbinding.”-Block Island Music Festival 2005
“Katrin is a refreshing departure from the predictable world of folk and acoustic music. Sweet, soulful and eminently likable, the disc flourishes yet remains stripped down.”- Eric Sweenor, In City Times
Katrin placed second out of over four hundred entries at the 2003 “Mountain Stage New Song Festival” in West Virginia. She appeared in an article by USA today and also graced the cover of Metronome Magazine in June 2004. Most recently, she was a winner at “Solarfest 2005” singer/songwriter contest in Vermont. Katrin is constantly expanding her audience through touring around the U.S.A. and has traveled as far as the Fringe Arts Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. You may have seen her singing in Harvard Square or Faneuil Hall Marketplace. A current gig schedule can be found at www.katrinrocks.com
Katrin’s song “Heal It” from her debut release “Out of Nothing” was featured on Boston’s Best Singer/Songwriter Compilation. Her songs have received airplay on radio stations including WXRV 92.5 and WUMB 91.9. Katrin was nominated “Best Folk Act” in Worcester for two years in a row. She has made various appearances on Emerson College’s Coffeehouse program, and has gained exposure through her live performances and local television programs.
Katrin uses many different guitar tunings that weave her voice and music into a lush tapestry. Her diverse background, playing with different bands and as a solo artist has given her great command of the stage. Katrin’s performances are riveting, with nothing but her acoustic guitar and a voice that will send shivers up your spine.

From the most Ancient Days our ancestors have gathered at Solstice To witness the rebirth of the unconquerable Sun at first light, Moving from its long gestation to triumph over the darkness.
The divine light gathers strength to bring new hope, peace and joy Whispering life’s secrets into awakening dormant seeds With the warmth of love and the mysteries of the spirit
We rekindle the turning of the year from it’s dark coals To guide and sustain us as we journey through the coldest times Honoring the rebirth of the inner light within ourselves.
Hail Winter! With you is born the light that promises spring, even as we cover ourselves with your blanket of shimmering silver ... Yuletide blessings!
