Placerville artist Daniel Trudeau (Pregnant) has done it again, a solid album of beautiful psychedelic and electronic ambient pop songs on twelve inches of pristine vinyl. Send paypal orders to kdvsrecordings@gmail.com for the amount of $13 (+$2 shipping and handling) to receive your very own copy and we'll throw in a copy of KDVS's own quarterly magazine for free too!.. ...... Daniel Trudeau otherwise known as Pregnant makes beautiful mutant pop songs that gives off traces of The Residents’ most accessible material filtered through some electro and glitch elements. To tell you the truth, we honestly are not sure how Dan makes all his badass music but we know for sure that it is bad-ass and that everyone should hear it before they die or at least collect retirement. He has a great way of using loops and mashing different things one could never dream of doing like the Steely Dan/Steve Reich mash-up that is in this LP which we have already tagged as a “future classic”. Yes! Treat yourself to this one and be at awe at the musical gem that is “Ike Wimin.” --- Only For the Open Minded Blog .... Rating: 5. Forsaken Animal Collective fans rejoice. If you are like me and felt betrayed by the over-digitalized poppiness of Merriweather Post Pavilion, I have found you a savior: 23-year-old Sacramento native Pregnant is the one you seek. It is not to say that Pregnant's debut, Ike Wimin, is a direct rip-off of Animal Collective, but similarities in aesthetic are irrefutable. Like Animal Collective, Pregnant recontextualizes folk, tribal and aboriginal music into a digital mode. The music is a juxtaposition of nature and technology: Drum machines meet the sounds of birds and water. Crisp acoustic instruments are accompanied by synthy glitches. Ike Wimin will hit record stores in the upcoming two weeks. Until then, the album can be ordered from KDVSrecordings.org or purchased directly from the KDVS radio station, located in Lower Freeborn. For now, it is only available on vinyl. Give these tracks a listen: Any of them. For Fans Of: YACHT, Lucky Dragons. --- Boris Freyman, The California Aggie .... Pregnant needs to pass the drugs: Northern California's Pregnant is more of a hermit in a forest project than a bedroom project. Imagined by Daniel Trudeau, it's a special brand of weirdness that might come from living too close to the natural mushrooms in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Although there's no cause for concern, no one in or associated with the group is pregnant and on drugs, to our limited knowledge. Pregnant ranges from flipped and backspun circus music betwixt twinkling alien transmissions and heavy drone to pitch-shifted nursery folk mimicking a children's sing-a-long tape. The distortion hoversbetween genuine silliness to possessed insanity sheep-skinned in coyness. --- Blake Gillespie, Impose Magazine .... Being pregnant doesn’t sound like much fun. You get huge, everything hurts, it’s hard to walk upstairs, and you can’t drink gin. I don’t even want to go into the whole giving birth thing, because that seems like a real struggle. However, Pregnant is a pretty good band name. Daniel Trudeau makes mutant pop sound-collages using samples, his vocals, and his own instrumentation. Every track I’ve heard sounds completely different so don’t expect what’s below to reflect his output, though it is my personal favorite. The Liquidation on Swans tape is out on Life’s Blood now and forthcoming is the Ike Wimin 12? on KDVS Recordings. --- Joel Wright, Vice Magazine .... Pregnant’s Daniel Trudeau returns with one of his best albums to date, “Ike Wimin.” The album feels more like an underwater dream as references to water and rivers are made throughout the songs. By far the standout track on this album is “Always Ocean b/u Conch.” Pregnant’s songs are always known for utilizing strange sounds as a beat, and for sure, “Ike Wimin” does not miss out on that one bit. In the 12 minute epic “Hey Valley,” Trudeau uses owl calls to create an abstract beat in which he plucks and twangs his guitar. The beauty of “Ike Wimin” is truly it’s progression from past albums. “Ike Wimin” sounds more professional and beautifully turns from an abstract pop album to ambient soundscapes. It is a great step forward for Pregnant’s sound. --- Christian Oldham, Miranda Magazine .... .. .. .. .. .. .. ......Pregnant.. from ..TERROREYES.TV.. on ..Vimeo..... ........ ..Dead Western.. - .."Soften Your Screams Into Sings".. $17 LP ltd. 500 .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
