Knock Knock Ginger is an indie-pop band from Waterloo, Ontario. Knock Knock Ginger has a guitarist who sings (Milosz Sikora), a keyboardist (Melissa Djurakov), a drummer (Owen Cherry), a bassist (Lisa Rafferty) and a guitarist who plays trumpet (Matt Charters).
The band's sound has been described as "experimental," but they cant quite figure out why. Theyd like you to think that they play fun, melodic pop songs with a lyrical slant.
Knock Knock Ginger has been together in various shapes and sizes since the fall of 2004. They recorded their first EP, titled Hurry!, in the summer of 2005 at the House of Miracles in London, Ontario. They released it independently and achieved some success on campus and community radio stations (and even the CBC). After playing shows in a lot of different cities around their hometown with a lot of different bands, Knock Knock Ginger headed back to the studio in the summer of 2006 to record a follow-up EP called Based On A True Story. They released it in the fall on Dadmobile Records and brought it with them on a trip they made to the East Coast to play at the Halifax Pop Explosion.
Knock Knock Ginger always wants to visit new and exciting places and hopes you will come see them when they make it to your town.
That was a great set at Clintons. Almost like a breezy ode to the good-time 60’s, delivering a stream of concise, catchy pop rock, utilizing clever lyrics and a surfeit of keyboards, trumpet bursts, and playful guitar riffs. Capturing retro-minded songcraft, Knock Knock Ginger clatters along with Brit-inflected jangle interacting with effervescent melodies and a pinch of neo-psych sweetness. Clearly a band to watch for.
Hey up ! It's been a while that i loved your music, you guys properly rock and everytime i make a friend of mine listen to you they dig it as well xx Come to paris ??
Hey Knock Knock Ginger, Thanks for making The O'Darling your friend. Your music sounds great and we hope to meet you soon at one of (y)our shows. Ciao, The O'D.
The intro on Papers Planes by MIA sounds remarkably like the first bars of Love Renee. She might have jacked your beats. I’d look into that if I were you. But then again MIA might have jacked that beat from the Clash, Straight to Hell. Hard to say for sure. Either way looking forward to the upcoming Bomber show.
That was a great set at Rancho Relaxo. A jaunty indie-rock ride that tugs at your heart-strings, catchy hooks, laced with a trumpet. A sound infused with saccharine-sweet charm and upbeat energy. Keep to your musical vision.
Thanks for accepting the add request...again. Unfortunately, I will not be in attendance at the Starlight as I have a prior commitment in Detroit that weekend. I'll definitely be there in spirit though. Rock hard!
