Kontatto formed in September 1998 with the following line up: Stuppune on vocals, Koppa on guitar and vocals, Joseppe on guitar, Marcellone on bass, Ciccione on drums. In Genuary 1999 we recorded our first session and released the split cd with PHP for Disastro sonoro records/Autoproduzioni moleste (March 1999). During the same month Marcellone and Stuppune left the band. Joseppe moved on bass and Marione joined as singer.
After a few gigs someone released a split live tape with Drunkards (summer 1999). During winter 1999 we recorded our second session (14 songs) and released the split 7" with swedish crusters Giftgas for Wall of noise records.
We played more and more gigs and released the 3 way split tape with Drunkards and Rifiuto for Zas! records(spring 2000). In June 2000 Ciccione and Joseppe left after the recording session for the split 7" with Belgian mince core gods Agathocles. We started again, this time as a trio with Marione on vocals, Kotu on guitar and Koppa on drums.
We had to practice a lot as it was the first time both for Koppa and Kotu on drums and guitar...The result was terrible, but we decided to go on as we didn' t care about the music but just about the attitude. In December 2000 the 7" split with Agathocles was out for Disastro sonoro records (Koppa's label).
In 6 moths the 7" was sold out (1000 copies) and we found in Febo a good new guitar player so Kotu moved on bass and in summer 2001, just after the G8, we went on tour in Czech Republic and Slovakia.
After the tour both Koppa and Marione moved to another city 400 km far away from Kotu and Febo, so we started having problems with practicing and bands' s meetings. But we kept on our own way and in September 2002 the split 7" with Beyond Description was out for Disastro sonoro records.
From 2002 to 2004 we played lots of shows, but that line up wasn' t working 'cause of Koppa's un-ability on drums. So we decided to recrute Marziona from Campus sterminii/N.S.A. on drums and Koppa moved back to his old duties (guitar and vocals).
After a few gigs we showed people that Kontatto was, after some years, again a nice act in the italian crustcore panorama. Koppa and Marziona left Italy (but not the band) to move to London for one year. In spring 2006 the "Il loro odio..." tribute to the Italian hc classics compilation lp was out and we are on it with a Wretched cover. In August 2006 Koppa and Marziona came back to Italy for good and we started practicing again as we planned a Czech/Slovakian/German tour in November 2006. We also have lots of new songs out and want to record an lp before spring 2007.
In september 2006 the 4 way split (with Campus sterminii, Contrasto and LeTormenta) benefit 7" for AlConfino squat was out.
Now we are waiting for this tour and we are really excited about it!!!
The tour was short, but intense and we had a great time with the friends we met around.
We played more shows in italy supporting Avskum, Wolfbrigade and Aghast.
In August we entered the studio and recorded the new album. It's gonna be released in winter by agipunk records.
In October Kotu decided to quit the band, and it was a sad decision but the only one that made sense this time. We both didn't even think to stop playing so we "replaced" him really fastly and now Il Ago is the new bass player.
He's a good friend to us too, they are both lovely, and the band must go on...We introduced him on stage at the carovan chaos festival supporting Disorder on Saturday 3rd November (30th Koppa's birthday) at the S.A.R.S. squat in Viareggio and, although he broke his bass during the gig, well, it was a blast.
Right after xmas 07 we had the best present from Stiv of war: the new front cover for the forthcoming Kontatto first full lenght.It's absolutely amazing and you can watch in our pictures section.
We introduced our new record supporting mob 47 in both the gigs, then we went on a small tour on Easter 08 in Austria, Germany and Belgium, we played at the Rovina Hardcore festival with After the bombs, Uncurbed and Crash box and then left on tour again with Massgrave in Czech Republic (Play Fast Or Don't festival), Germany, Holland and belgium (Fall 08). More gigs in Italy (with Visions of war, Bologna Brucia festival nd 10 years birthday) and then we left for a 3 weeks tour in the U.S.A.
We are now going to play a couple of festivals (Scumfest in London and Be Part fest in Germany) and then we will have enough material for a new full lenght!
