Born and raised, as much as could be, in Arnprior - the heart of the Ottawa Valley. Currently back in Ontario after hiding from the winter in Melaque San Patricio Mexico on the Pacific coast, writing tunes, spinning yarns and fishing the big ones.
Laderoute always played guitar for one reason or another in high school, then a few years on the road and all through university. He started writing poetry while studying literature in university and then turned 'em into tunes at some point in life. At some other point, he recorded a cd called A River I Know - sounds pretty good and sells a few copies every now and then. It's getting rave reviews in North America, the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium. Italy's knocking at the door too.
He tries to gig as much as he can and likes meeting folks of similar jib cuts at all his gigs.
Laderoute is currently working on some new tunes for a new cd possibly called Presbyterian Barfly Days or 180 Days - whichever fits the CD cover best.
Just recently. the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals (OCFF) gave one of Laderoute's songs, "A River I Know" the overall top award in their 2008 Songs From The Heart competition. He'll receive the Galaxie Rising Stars of the CBC Award at the OCFF conference, October 24/25 in Ottawa Ontario and will be showcasing that song and a few others at the conference.
An extensive 6 month road trip follows that.
More as it happens.
Oh ya - buy Michael's CD at www.cdbaby.com/cd/laderoute or at one of his gigs and you'll be life-long pals ... really.
