About me:
Boba Fett approves of my book!

I'm a writer & artist. My first novel,
Faeries of Dreamdark: Blackbringer was recently published by Penguin/Putnam, and my gift product line, Laini's Ladies, is available in thousands of stores around the country.

I love:

  • mangoes
  • snow
  • weird science & history facts
  • chocolate
  • fairy tales
  • Italy
  • red wine in a really big glass or a really tiny one
  • tall tall shoes
  • book stores

I hope some day to ride a camel across a desert, an elephant through a jungle, and a magic carpet on a loop-de-loo around a minaret. Oh, and to circumnavigate Sicily in a peddleboat with a big polka dot umbrella to keep off the sun, and a cooler full of popsicles and white wine.

ABOUT FAERIES OF DREAMDARK: BLACKBRINGER

Magpie Windwitch, granddaughter of the West Wind, is not like other faeries. While most of her kind live in seclusion deep in their forests, escaped devils are creeping back into the world after millenia of imprisonment, and Magpie is all that stands in their way. With her faithful clan of crows, she travels the world hunting the bloodthirsty snags just as her hero, the legendary Bellatrix, did twenty-five thousand years ago.

When the ancient evil of the Blackbringer is loosed from its prison, Magpie may be in over her head. This hunt will take her back to the great forest of Dreamdark, a place of legends and Djinn, cunning imps and tattooed warriors, where she must unravel the mystery of the greatest enemy her folk have ever known.

Will the determination of one small faerie be enough to defeat the impenetrable darkness that threatens to unmake the world?

Nominated as an ALA Best Book for Young Adults

"Featuring both an uncommonly well-conceived setting and buckets of high-energy action, Taylor's debut tale of a thumb-sized devil hunter who comes this close to meeting her match, belongs at the top of everyone's fantasy must-read list."
--Kirkus *starred review*

"If you only read one fantasy book this year, read this one."
-- Betsy Bird, Fuse #8

"Blackbringer is a tremendous book -- a vivid adventure in a place both familiar and new, characters that made me laugh and cheer, and a truly frightening villain. I thoroughly enjoyed the read."
-- Shannon Hale

Wanted to thank you for being a friend and tell you about the lastest review I received for my book "Banished Hero."

"When I readed the blurb of this book, I knew I had to read it! I am so happy I did. The author is very creative with her characters and plot."

When taking a journey into the woods
A few cautionary words…

One must first become wild so as to reap the full benefits of the experience. This involves, adorning oneself as a creature of the earth with whatever tell tale symbols, vegetation, and ceremony that reflect the character of the journeyperson.

One must be ready to read signs and symbols… meant only for you!

As you learn to recognize these signs and symbols…. You will tune into your deep intuitive knowing. This is your light. Once you have your light you must hold fast to it throughout your journey. Your light will show you the path that has been laid for you, that path which no one else has ever upon tread. And where you go from here is anyone’s guess, but it’s the ultimate adventure and you must go!

So young traveler, Into the Woods you go, your story awaits you…….
