"Getting the shakes now, last call for drinks, bars closing down... Sun's out, where are we going for breakfast? Don't wanna go far. Rough night, tired baby... Tired..."
-Al Pacino's last words in Carlito's Way
Born in Finland, 2007. The Last Calls' music is it's own distinct venom.
They have injected indie punkrock with doses of jazz and hypnotic blues and a dash of feverish flamenco and country music into "Ennio Morricone meets Jim Morrison at a punkrock concert in a David Lynch movie." The music is presented in a dreamy, cinematic way and the lyrics are poetic tales from the darkness of lonely, smoky rooms when the hours are late and rough.
Originally formed as a side project by a couple of friends who shared the same view about a band they'd like to hear. After hundreds of shows of distortion and feedback with their bands of that time, they realized it was the time for something else.
They gathered local musician friends around them, who had been playing and performing in various rock n'roll, pop, rockabilly, triphop, flamenco, hardcore and punk bands and decided to give it a try together.
Soon they realized that this would be more than a just a part-time side project. From the very first rehearsals, the band had a point and purpose, so they started making plans for their future.
In the spring of 2007 the band recorded three songs for their first release. Around the same time, the group started playing their first public appearances around the country. The promo CD contains the very first songs they wrote, the ballad Irene, and the countryish nightmare of love gone bad in "Bad Luck Charm" and the Latin-style lovesong "Maria’s Arms."
At live shows, they have been performing their own material and also cover songs from new wave/punk artists, such as Killing Joke, The Gun Club and Agent Orange. Always with a twist of something of their own.
Their first European tour happened on 11th - 19th of April 2008.
If you can relate to Slavic melancholy, American blues, Latin heartbeat with punk attitude you cannot go wrong with the Last Calls.

I know that many artists from North America don't have their music videos uploaded to German video websites. The most popular websites are MyVideo.de and ClipFish.de. That means your European audience does not have the chance to find them.
I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
Thanks
Christian
