Wong Lip Kee the lead guitarist was also guitarist, composer and singer with Samarkand, whose first album was released in 2001, while drummer Alex Ang from East Malaysia plays for Naked Breed, Velvet Tones and Cosmic Funk Express. Bass player Shahril E. Ismail has now left the band and been replaced by Alda Tan. Markiza and Peter Brown have been doing their own music for years, as well as the commercial scene for a short time during the nineties. They have self-produced two albums as the duo Passion and Peter released his fourth solo album, Warm in 2001. Soft Touch performs new songs composed for the band, a few songs from Warm, and a souped-up version of the title track from the second Passion album Love & Music.

The Soft Touch full album is now out (released November 28 2005) and consists of the five songs already released on the Soft Touch EP: Listen 2 What U C, Happy Sad, Shelter, Wishful Thinking and Lately, which have been re-mastered for better quality, and four partially live tracks, Better World, Move on Down the Line, Love & Music and Crazy Heart recorded live at Paul's Place during the launch of the EP in April 2005 with the vocals re-dubbed in the studio for the sake of quality, and one unplugged track Mercy. Apart from the live tracks the entire album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Lemang Studio, which is a 16 track home studio, partly analogue and partly digital. The five original EP songs were all composed collectively by the band, but bass player Shahril originated Shelter and Lately, while the others were originated by Markiza and Peter. Markiza wrote the lyrics of Lately (all the lyrics are now up on our site www.lemang.com ). The cover was designed by Izzy and the CD label by Zash. The style of music is indie rock with a melodic and sometimes jazzy feel, with a bit of grunge thrown in too. The rhythm section is heavy and punchy with the songs light and breezy and sometimes a bit folky. But it's folkyness with an Edge.

It's a lot harder and rockier than the songs we've got on here. Basically, it's gonna be our edgier, noisier side on show for our first release. We wanted to make a modern lo-fi record so...
Perhaps our next record will be more pastoral, strummy and homemade in vibe.
