• Bio

What happens when you take an Indiana girl - put her in art school in Savannah - move her to NY - then move her back to Atlanta - and basically everything in between. Hypnotic, nostalgic tendencies...

Lindsay Appel is me, ..Lindsay Appel.. (songwriting-vocals-keys-guitar). Over the past year or so, I've played with both a trio and then a trio which sported guest players from time to time, usually on saxophone and lead guitar. Currently, I'm playing with a new (fantastic!) trio with Daniel Winn (A Fight to the Death) on bass and Chris Jansen (Jupiter Watts) on drums. They both also used to play together in a band called Hot Young Priest. They're amazing and the songs I'm writing sync up beautifully with their take on the music.
We just played our first show (10-5-11) at 529 in East Atlanta with Leslie Sisson of the Woodenbirds, and are currently recording our first EP!
Can't wait. Please find us on Facebook for current updates. I rarely get around to checkin' Myspace anymore.

Here are a few places/awards/events where you may have spotted my name prior to viewing this page :
*Reader's Pick for Creative Loafing's 2008 Best Local Singer/Songwriter..
*Keys/vocals: ..2008 & 2009 - ..Happenstance.. @ the EARL..
*Guest vocals-keys-guitar for ..West End Motel.., ..Chickens & Pigs.., ..Old Custer.., etc. (Basically whenever anyone wants me in front of a microphone, I'm there!) -------------------------------- ..***Hey now. Led Zeppelin meets Feist. maybe. The voice of your long lost love. That voice in utter darkness. The line where country meets the city.

Bio:

.. Lindsay Appel is me, Lindsay Appel (songwriting-vocals-keys-guitar). Over the past year or so, I've played with both a trio and then a trio which sported guest players from time to time, usually on saxophone and lead guitar. Currently, I'm taking some time for myself to write, write, write, as well as introduce the songs (both old & new) to some fantastic players. Look for us at Junktique in Decatur (on Nov. 7th) and as a full band at Callenwolde's Holiday Fundraiser (on Nov. 30th). Plans for both recording and video are in the works...look for something at the beginning of 2011!

After spending a few years gallivanting around the north & south east following artistic whims, I've taken up residence in Atlanta, GA. I played solo around town until March 2009, when the band idea got a'rolling.

As far as sound goes, my blend seems to be rather hard for folks to pin down. In my mind, it's a sultry mix of rock/blues/pop, with a healthy dose of shimmer and *spark*, throw in a dash of cinematic flair + a whole lot of sassafras, and on some sort of primitive level of definition, that equals the music that I write. When the charming likes of my friends and fantastic players are added in, the songs motivate foot tappers and hip shakers, I get to stomp around on bigger stages, and the whole shebang gravitates closer to the perpetual music video parade march I've got playing in my head. All in all, a splendid good time!

*Silly (old) video for a fun song. I'm tempted to take it down, but it seems to be a favorite. Part of my halloween costume from 4th grade even makes an appearance.

*Here's a video of my band 'B+' at this year's Happenstance @ the Earl.

Here are a few places/awards/events where you may have spotted my name prior to viewing this page :

*Reader's Pick for Creative Loafing's 2008 Best Local Singer/Songwriter

*Keys/vocals: 2008 & 2009 - Happenstance @ the EARL

*Guest vocals-keys-guitar for West End Motel, Chickens & Pigs, Old Custer, etc. (Basically whenever anyone wants me in front of a microphone, I'm there!)
