Sounds Like
"Bass lines are fat and distorted, drums are hard and funky, and singer Kirsten Ross (think Catwoman meets Cristina Martinez from 90s garage rockers Boss Hog) can screech and croon with equally devastating effect." (Daily Record)
'A wall of no-frills rock n' roll that commands full attention immediately, with catchy seventies-styled guitar-licks' (the Skinny Magazine)
Little Doses was born from the ashes of previous endeavours. I spent 11 years with Snow Patrol and even after the massive disappointment of how that ended, I found I still loved music. I wanted to play. Little Doses are the silver lining to the snow cloud.
Kirsten sings all the time, beautifully. In fact I'm suprised she doesn't sing in her sleep. She was always first choice to put meaning to the words, even from the first demos. Add to that the fact she is a feisty, opinionated bundle of trouble, what more could you ask for in a lead singer?
The Branagh I had met in London a few years previous at the never glamorous Colombia hotel. I'd just seen him play with Degrassi and it was a stormer of a gig, we stayed up into the night drinking and having a time. With a classic drummer's attitude, he hits them hard and makes it up as he goes along. When I heard Degrassi had split up I gave him the call.
Guitarist has been an awkward question for the Doses. I guess partially because of it being the last position to be filled. Along the way we lost one good guitarist to the newly formed and hotly tipped Red Light Company (good job Paul!), another returned to his former comrades at Annie Christain (thanks for all your help Larry) and Richey has returned to old friends leaving in his wake a beautiful swathe of cello on our recordings. We now have bona fide mystery men overloading that slot.
When not scouring Scotland for the guitarist of the month we've managed to play some great gigs. The Wickerman festival, T in the Fringe, T break and the Leith FM benefit stick out to my mind, now we are again playing regularily and recording new material which we are very excited about and will let you hear in due course.
