-The Legend-
The name Lorenguard is derived from a once proud legion of knights who served under the founder of Lorendale, King Loren I; Emperor of all of Athland and Father of the Loren dynasty. These knights protected their kingdom of Candrella and stood against the savage barbarian tribes of the Rhelklands, the hordes of foul greks and the opposing necromantic empire of Vysarc.
For nearly 400 years the Lorenguard carried out the king’s justice and defended his realms from tyranny and misrule, but when the greks united under one cruel leader, and as a plague swept across the northern lands, Candrella was doomed to fall. Many stories recount the fall of Candrella, but few know the truth behind the empire’s collapse.
With Candrella fell the knighthood of the Lorenguard. The three kingdoms of the south established their own rule and the Loren bloodline was all but forgotten.
An age of knights had died.
However, as the Fourth Age began to dawn on the Mortal Realms known as Athland, a long-lived peace was about to be violently ended. Thus begins the tale of the Lorenguard once more…
-The Band-
Lorenguard was formed in the summer of 2004 by Adam and Brady Sadler and Chris Cruz. The three started writing songs for a then unrealized power metal band, but soon found that they wanted to do something more accessible, and yet still more fantastical than the European bands that influenced them. It was decided that the band would base its music in the undeveloped fantasy world of Lorendale that Brady - an aspiring fantasy writer - had begun to create with his brother, Adam. The idea was to construct a living backdrop to inspire the epic music that they were writing. Instead of simply composing stories for their music as an afterthought, the tales of Lorenguard will be realized through a series of novels that will accompany the band's musical releases. All of the members of the band represent the heroes that the story centers around and each song sings of their tales.
