The Lou Seriol were born in 1992, on the wave of the rediscovery and revaluation of the Occitan music. One year after their birth, the group started experimenting with not properly “traditional” instruments. Then since 1994 the will to talk to people and to be listened to started taking them to play around Italy and France. During that year the actual group composition was born (drum, bass guitar, guitar, voice, flutes-bagpipes, “semitun”), even though the single instruments of the “Occitan squirrels” have actually been played by different musicians during the years.
Raggae, punk and ska-core started influencing the Lou Seriol’s traditional “corente” and “rigodon” since the beginning, preparing the way that took them on the stage of national and international festivals, from France to Spain, from Pays Basque (they were the first foreign group to play in a Basque festival) to Austria.
Their popularity and their music production started growing.
In year 2000 the Squirrels managed to give birth to their first album called “Persi Pien”, in which the first results of their mix of traditional songs and ballads, upset in their spirit, but not in their soul, were evident. “Persi Pien” is their first self-made production that literally threw them into a 2 year tour, during which almost 3.000 copies were sold!
In year 2003 they started working on a new album. At the end of 2004 a 7th “Squirrel” became part of the group: it was the artistic producer and friend Riccardo Parravicini. In Spring 2005 the new album was almost ready: its title would be “Reviori”.
In this album the new tracks are together with some traditional ones, but the personal character of the group gains advantage. One of the strength point of this album is the contribution of many friends, who have been recorded on some tracks: from the Massilia Sound System with the voice Jale-Papet J to the Lou Dalfin with Dino Tron and Sergio Berardo and their own instruments, from the Nux Vomica from Nice (France), with Luis Pastorelli, to the choir L'Escabot and the voice of the Director Simondi, in the song “L'ase d'alegre”.
Thanks to all of them, a unique and partly magic album has come out, strictly linked to and rooted in the Occitan land, which the Lou Seriol have travelled through, have known deeply and have warmed up with more than 500 concerts and many many liters of exclusively alcoholic drinks.
Lou Seriol est né en 1992 dans la mouvance « tradinovatrice » de la musique occitane, après un an d’existence, le groupe a commencé à jouer avec des instruments pas vraiment "traditionnels".
Depuis 1994, le désir de communiquer et d'être entendu les a emmené à jouer en France et en Italie. Cette année-là, la composition actuelle du groupe est née. Depuis le début, Reggae, punk et ska-core ont influencé le traditionnel "corente" et "rigodon" de Lou Seriol, préparant ainsi le chemin qui les a emmené sur les scènes des festivals nationaux et internationaux, de France en Espagne, du Pays Basque (ils ont été le premier groupe étranger à jouer dans un festival basque) jusqu’en Autriche. C'est alors que leur popularité et leur production musicale a commencé à se développer.
En 2000, les Ecureuils donnent naissance à leur premier album appelé "Persi Pien", dans lequel les résultats de leur travail de mix de chansons traditionnelles se fait sentir. "Persi Pien" les a rapidement projeté dans une tournée de 2 ans durant laquelle près de 3000 copies ont été vendues !
En 2003 ils commencèrent à travailler sur un nouvel album. A la fin 2004, un septième "Ecureuil" se joint à leur groupe : le directeur artistique et ami Riccardo Parravicini.
Le nouvel album, "Reviori" est arrivé au printemps 2005. Dans cet album de nouveaux morceaux ont rejoints les morceaux traditionnels, et le caractère personnel du groupe y a gagné. Une des forces de cet album est la contribution de beaucoup d'amis qui ont participé sur certains morceaux : depuis Massilia Sound System avec la voix de Papet J à Lou Dalfin avec Dino Tron et Sergio Berardo munie de leur instruments respectifs. De Nux Vomica de Nice avec Louis Pastorelli, au chœur L'Escabot et la voix du directeur Simondi dans la chanson "l'ase d'alegre".
Grace à eux tous, un album unique et en partie magique a vu le jour, strictement lié et enraciné dans la Terre Occitane que Lou Seriol a sillonné, a connu en profondeur et réchauffé avec plus de 500 concerts et beaucoup de litres de boissons exclusivement alcooliques.
I LOU SERIOL nascono nel 1992 sull'onda della riscoperta della musica occitana e sulla valorizzazione della stessa. Un'anno dopo la sua formazione il gruppo inizia a dotarsi di strumenti non proprio "tradizionali". Così la voglia di dire qualcosa e di farsi ascoltare porta i nostri amichetti già dal 1994 in giro per l'Italia e per la Francia. Qui nasce la formazione attuale (batteria, basso, chitarra, voce, flauti-cornamusa, semutun) dei serioli gli scoiattoli d'occitania anche se tanti personaggi delle varie postazioni sono cambiati durante gli anni. Il reggae, il punk e lo ska-core iniziano a farsi strada nelle corente o nei rigodon tradizionali già da subito tracciando la strada che ha portato i Lou seriol sulla scena di festival sia nazionali che internazionali, dalla Francia alla Spagna, dai Baesi Baschi (primo gruppo straniero a suonare in un festival basco) all'Austria. Cresce la notorietà e cresce il repertorio. Nel 2000 finalmente i serioli riescono a far uscire dal cappello il loro primo album "Persi Pien" dove vengono raccolti i primi frutti della commistione tra trad e ballate stravolte nello spirito ma non nell'anima. Persi pien è la prima autoproduzione che lancia i serioli in un due anni di tour e che alla fine ha venduto quasi 3000 copie sul campo dei concerti e delle feste. Nel 2003 si inizia a lavorare anzi a elaborare un nuovo disco. A fine 2004 si entra in studio con un settimo seriolo, il produttore artistico e amico Riccardo Parravicini. Nella primavera 2005 è pronto o quasi il nuovo album che scopriremo in seguito si chiamerà Reviori. I brani di composizione sono affiancari da alcuni pezzi di origine tradizionali ma la parte personale del gruppo prende il sopravvento. La cigliegina sulla torta sono i contributi degli amici che durante la registrazione sono venuti a trovarci e che sono rimasti intrappolati su alcune tracce. Dai Massilia Sound System con Jale-Papet J alla voce ai Lou Dalfin con Dino Tron e Sergio Berardo ai rispettivi strumenti, dai Nux Vomica di Nizza con Luis Pastorelli al coro L'Escabot con la voce del il maestro Simondi su l'ase d'alegre. Ne esce un disco unico e in tratti magico, sospeso e sotterato in una terra, quella occitana che i lou seriol hanno viaggiato, conosciuto e riscaldato con più di 500 concerti e tanti tanti litri di bevande rigorosamente alcoliche.
Un balèti américano-marseillais autour du roman de Claude Mc Kay «Banjo», né de la rencontre exceptionnelle entre Moussu T e Lei Jovents (La Ciotat – Provence) et Arlee Leonard (New York - USA) accompagnés par le jaz ciotaden.
L’histoire de la rencontre entre la musique Noire américaine et celle de Marseille et la Provence, pour pouvoir revisiter les sonorités de l’époque dans les deux pays et essayer de comprendre les télescopages musicaux qui ont marqué la création artistique contemporaine.
Zou, Shake That Thing! est une création originale dont l’intention est claire : se réapproprier l’héritage musical, le faire découvrir au grand public, tout en s’engageant dans la nouveauté.
