Lukas Batteau is an alternative rockband from Utrecht, The Netherlands. What once started as singer-songwriter project in 2008, has now, together with drummer Berry Vink and bass player Josine van der Splinter (Rock Nation), grown into powerful rock with a touch of the '90s.
Lukas Batteau started in 2007 with a home recorded demo and has been busy performing as a singer-songwriter in various venues throughout The Netherlands, Germany, and the USA. He has played in major venues like Paradiso, P60, Ekko, and Doornroosje in Holland, and famous clubs like The Livingroom in New York. In 2008 he supported Wouter Hamel, Tracy Bonham, and Alaska in Winter (Beirut). In August 2008 Lukas Batteau released his first studio recorded EP, produced together with well-known ‘In A Cabin With’ producer Maarten Besseling and Ravinia Thwaites from RnR. The EP, which was also released on USB-stick, received great reviews in music magazines like OOR, Musicfrom, and German indie magazine Soundmag.
This year the band was support act in popular venues like the Melkweg in Amsterdam and Tivoli in Utrecht and will be playing in a number of cities throughout The Netherlands with the Popronde festival. At the same time the band is working hard on it's debut album 'The substance of things', that will be released early 2010. As of November 1, the band has decided to continue as Yen Harley. Lukas Batteau will continue to create music and perform as singer-songwriter, but during the transition this site will be dedicated to the coming release.
