Mister Jazz/Techno and Mister Reggae/Dancehall now make common cause in the form of the producer dream-team Luke Rich. Through repeated collaborations, Adam Lukas (mastermind of Bassrunner, producer aka Selecta Loopus) and Florian Richling (keeper of the Highhat Studio and known for the electro project Tipanic) have started a musical friendship, which has already yielded remarkable results, noted both at home and abroad.
While at first, Luke Rich concentrated on working with international artists at Highhat studio in Vienna, the two music-aficionados have meantime begun to compose and record their very own riddims; as a result, Bassrunner Productions have already released two selections by Luke Rich: the highly acclaimed “Thug Funk Riddim” (2006) and the “Ghetto Ride Riddim” (2007); the latter hit the charts and was on 7 in the German Reggae Charts.
The ongoing success and the broad acceptance among both the audience and fellow-musicians have prompted Luke Rich to produce ever new riddims; among the latest productions by the Viennese combo are the two upcoming selections “Warzone”, with a track by Grammy award Winner Mykal Roze, and “Outlaw”, featuring stars like TOK.
Apart from recording new, “homemade” riddims, Luke Rich also collaborate in numerous projects all across Europe; at the moment, the Viennese dream-team simultaneously works on the new albums by Nosliw (GER), Mono & Nikitaman (AUT/GER), Bongo Chilli (GB) and Ronny Trettman (GER). Besides, Luke Rich are also involved in the production of the upcoming Ward 21 album.
Since all of the above-mentioned productions are to be released in 2009, next year will mark a new climax in the aspiring co-operation of the two Viennese producers. However, the two most ambitious projects are yet to come. The great abundance and the high quality of riddims by Luke Rich have led the combo to start working on a producer-album. Closely connected with the intended producer-album is their wish to transform their current project into an exciting live-show; by means of this further advancement of Luke Rich, both Adam and Flo hope to get the audience even more enthused about their new, fresh sound.
A list of artists, Luke Rich worked with in the last two years, underlines the overall public performance of said combo:
Jamaican Artists Busy Signal, Ward 21, Daville and Hollow Point; in Europe: Million Stylez (SWE), Ill Inspecta (GER), Lexie Lee (CA), Mad Killah (FR), Bongo Chilli (GB), 3gga (AUT), Ronny Trettmann (GER), Nosliw (GER) as well as Mono&Nikitaman (AUT/GER).
Also the upcoming collaborations with artists such TOK, Mykal Roze, Demarco, Natty King, Dr. Evil aka Leftside as well as Ronny Trettmann, Nosliw and the newcomer Smo promise to make the year 2009 the most productive and successful since the kick-off of Luke Rich.
At the moment, Nigerians have discovered their special love for Viennese riddims made by Luke Rich. The hit-single “Satisfy Me” feat. Rhymzo, 3igga and Emiliano is currently topping the Nigerian charts and is omnipresent on local radios, in Nigerian dancehalls and clubs.
