Today I bought a hip hop CD from a street musician I met in Marysville. We were talking about music and shit and he was like "I made this demo out of my blood, sweat and tears, I'm accepting any donations" and I was like "Fuck yeah dude, I hella support indie music". I paid him $5. Then I was like "Do you like techno?" and he was like "Some of it is alright" and I said "You need to hear this" and I gave him your Halloween mix from Freak Night. I meant to give him the Booze Cruise mix which is 10x better, but I couldn't find it. My car is a mess. (I found it as I was driving away.)
What kind of impact could I have just made on that man's life? He could listen to the CD once, throw it away, and never see it again. Or... he could become one of dubstep's greatest producers or MCs. Or maybe if I hadn't stopped and chatted with him about music he might have gotten hit by a car and died. Only God knows.
