Hello I'm a singer/songwriter/harpist based in Sussex UK.I was born in Scotland to Polish parents. Please see my website for more details and bookings www.magdalenareising.com
The first 4 songs here are from my impending album called 'Coming Home' with my Blue Cafe Jazz Ensemble
1/ Vaila's Song - I first composed and recorded this song on the harp for a friends daughter who was seriously ill with a life threatening condition. This song helped her recovery through it's message of love and healing. This version is a jazz arrangement by Tony Pancella and is the only song on the album which features only piano and voice
2/ Stay- an original song which I first composed on the harp and later developed with Steve Thompson on double bass. This is the first song on the album to feature a little of the harp.
3/ My Love is Like a Red,red Rose -jazz arrangement Steve Thompson , words Rabbie Burns. I do believe this is the first time this beautiful Scottish love song has been played in a contemporary jazz style!
4/ Dzika Roza- music Magdalena Reising/Steve Thompson, words Galcynski.
The Polish poet ,Galcynski wrote this poem when he was in a prisoner of war camp in 1942 and the essence of it is that if he keeps remembering the aroma of the wild rose bush next to his house - it will take him home and his heart will be free again
The latter songs are from my album Blue Cafe. Reviews from this recording are below;
” the kind of subtle magical power happening at the Blue Café won’t be held across the Pond for long. The similarly charming and talented Corinne Bailey Rae became a Grammy nominated sensation and a major presence on the U.S. pop and jazz charts, and there’s no reason why Reising couldn’t follow suit with enough Stateside interest and promotion. This album is the reason why jazz and pop fans looking for the next big thing need to focus on the great indie artists out there rather than just what the major labels keep throwing our way”
New York Review
“Word of her prowess as singer and instrumentalist is obviously spreading fast. Her music raises the spirits and I walked out into the cold night enveloped in a warm glow. Her singing is delicate and feminine but with an underlying strength and depth.”
Author, Geoff Edwards
“Magdalena’s rich deep voice, accompanied by the brilliance of Steve Thomson on double bass, the satin finesse of Hollywood composer Christopher Page on piano and the genius of Alex Eberhard on percussion ‘will transport you to a place of low-lit glamour.”
Wave Magazine

“…….Magdalena Reising’s debut album gives the listener a good view of her talent as an inspired songwriter and sensitive performer. The album features a well balanced diversity of tempos and rhythms, from meditative to joyful, beautifully captured in a jazz-blues atmosphere by excellent musicians “Jazzworld.quest.com
“…….Quite possibly one of the most stunning albums I ever had the privilege of listening to “Isles FM

Magadalena, the gifts of your music WERE a pleasant surprise. Beautiful and soulful. Vaila's Song . . . what can you say, emotional, lovely. The way you started acapella on Follow My Heart just pulled me in and had me. When soft music accompanies at :22, ah, it just carried me along. But Blue Cafe, I wanted to turn the lights down, close my eyes, sip one last scotch, and fall into the vocals. Thanks for the gifts,. Wonderful, simply wonderful
