Over performance met polypoëtisch werk samen met Jelle Meander in de Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal en Letterkunde in Gent:
"Het wordt een uur vol geschuurde taal. Jelle Meander en Maja Jantar beperkten zich niet tot klanken, maar integreerden ook vooraf opgenomen muziek, klanken, geroezemoes en zelfs een trompet in hun performance. ... Maja Jantar was niet enkel bedreven in het brengen van poëzie, haar stem kon ook heel wat meer dan enkel gedichten brengen. Ritme, improvisatie, humor en ironie vonden hun plaats in deze ‘taal van de sterren’."

Maja Jantar is a voice artist working in the fields of performance, music theatre, poetry and visual arts. She studied Art Sciences and has been giving performances since 1995 (Gent, Antwerp, Vienna, London, Chemnitz, Genêve, Madrid, Brussels, …).
Next to this she also created many pieces as a voice artist and is an active member of the group Krikri.
She directed the opera Infinito Nero by Salvatore Sciarrino, La Corona by Gluck , Aap Verslaat de Knekelgeest by Peter Schat, Al Amin Dada by Lucien Goethals on the libretto of Jelle Meander and Bastien en Bastienne by Mozart. She worked as assistent for Guy Joosten at the Flemish Operahouse in Antwerp and she assisted Vincent Boussard at the Royal Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels.
Recently she has been working with the theatregroup Crew with whom she performed at the Vooruit (Ghent), Buda (Kortrijk), De Brakke Grond (Amsterdam), Rotterdamse Schouwburg (Rotterdam), Spielart Festival (Munich), La Chartreuse (Avignon), Kaaitheater (Brussels), VIA festival (Mons), Theater am Gessner Allee (Zürich).
She regularly performs with the poet Vincent Tholomé with whom she also gives workshops around the use of language and sound, and with whom she is preparing new material for a cd.
Currently she is collaborating with Ewout d'Hoore on a new theatrical creation and with Bianco Nero for whom she will direct Rikadla (non sense children rhymes, by Janacek). Next season she will direct two street opera's by Frank Nuyts and Boudewijn Buckinx and Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdinck for the Alden Biesen Summer Opera Festival. She will also perform together with Vincent Tholomé and Sebastien Dicenaire at Centre Pompidou for the Bruits de Bouche festival. And she will publish an artsbook with her visual and audio work for Hartmut Andryczuk's Hybriden Verlag, Berlin.
