Quatro anos após sua estreia em CD, a cantora baiana Marcia Castro lança o segundo álbum de sua carreira marcada por importantes realizações em um curto espaço de tempo. Desde que lançou o CD Pecadinho, em 2007, uma série de acontecimentos tem repercutido o nome da artista e ampliado a expectativa em torno do novo trabalho: foi indicada ao Prêmio TIM/2008 como "Melhor cantora de pop-rock" (ao lado de Fernanda Takai e Vanessa da Mata); se apresentou no importante Montreux Jazz Festival, na Suíça; acompanhou a argentina Mercedes Sosa em sua última turnê, com shows no Brasil, Alemanha, Itália e Israel; teve a música "Queda" incluída na trilha da novela Ciranda de Pedra, da Rede Globo; e fez gravações e participações em projetos junto a ícones da música brasileira como Tom Zé, Moraes Moreira, Luiz Melodia e Jards Macalé. Tudo isso, para ficar em poucos exemplos. Marcia é inquieta e sua movimentação se reflete na quantidade e diversidade de parcerias que realiza, assim como na desenvoltura que apresenta ao trabalhar diferentes gêneros musicais, sempre imprimindo sua identidade de um modo que surpreende crítica e público. Graduada na Escola de Música da Universidade Federal da Bahia, iniciou-se na música aos 16 anos. Em São Paulo, para onde se mudou em 2008, parece ter assimilado com maior intensidade o caráter cosmopolita da cidade. Desde então, fez residência artística no Timor Leste, uma turnê na Turquia e criou o projeto "Pipoca Moderna", no qual promove um intercâmbio artístico com cantoras de diferentes Estados brasileiros (Maryana Aydar e Ana Cañas/SP, Rita Ribeiro/MA, Cláudia Cunha/PA e as conterrâneas Mariella Santiago, Marcela Bellas e Manuela Rodrigues) e até mesmo do exterior (caso da cabo-verdiana Mayra Andrade). Em seu novo CD, De pés no chão, ela mistura um repertório ousado e inusitado que vai do clássico "Preta pretinha", dos Novos Baianos, a raridades garimpadas em suas pesquisas sonoras, como "Catedral do inferno", de Cartola e Hermínio Bello de Carvalho, antes registrada somente pela cantora Marlene. O CD, produzido em conjunto por Guilherme Kastrup, Rovilson Pascoal e a própria Marcia, ainda apresenta composições de Tom Zé, Gilberto Gil, Gonzaguinha, Rita Lee e dos contemporâneos Otto e Luciano Salvador Bahia, entre outros. O maestro baiano Letieres Leite, responsável pela elogiada Orkestra Rumpilezz, assina os arranjos de sopros em quatro faixas e Luiz Brasil compôs os arranjos de cordas em duas faixas. Entre as participações especiais encontram-se nomes de destaque na nova música brasileira, como Hélio Flanders (da banda cuiabana Vanguart), o violonista paulista Kiko Dinucci, a baiana Marcela Bellas e a carioca Thalma de Freitas, um time de respeito que faz parte da jovem e promissora cena musical da qual Marcia Castro faz parte. _________________________________________________________________ ABOUT MARCIA CASTRO The Bahian singer Márcia Castro started in the music business when she was 16. Being a dedicated artist, she entered to the School of Music at Federal University of Bahia and participated as acoustic guitar player and singer in several theatrical presentations, such as: "Do Fino Véu ao Céu da Boca", "Prelúdios Intensos para os desmemoriados do Amor" and "Mulheres". In 2003, being 25, she did her first solo show: " No Arco da Lua, a Linha do Sol" on Sesi Theater, winning three Caymmi Awards, an award being very important in the Bahian music scene. After presenting herself on several stages in Salvador City (Bahia), her career started to launch in 2006, when she won the Braskem Cultura e Arte Awards, the greatest award in the Bahian independent music scene, and started to record her first album, "Pecadinho", being musically produced by Luciano Salvador Bahia. The album was released in July 2007, at the Modern Art Museum of Bahia. In August she won the edital "Produção de Conteúdo Digital em Música" of the Cultural Institution of the State of Bahia, and shot a music video of the song "Frevo (Pecadinho)", written by Tom Zé and Tuzé de Abreu, which featured Tom Zé himself. Still in Salvador, some highlighted presentations of "Pecadinho" were the openings of the shows of Marina Lima at Castro Alves Theater, the project MPB Music Petrobrás, and of the paulistan singer Céu, in the Acoustic Shell in the Castro Alves Theater. In March 2008 she moved to São Paulo, presenting the national release of the album at Crowne Plaza Theater every Tuesday and receiving positive reviews from the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo (Lauro Lisboa), the blog Me Leva Brasil (Maurício Kubrusly), the magazine Carta Capital (Pedro Alexandre Sanches), among others. In May the song "Queda" became part of the soundtrack of the soap opera "Ciranda de Pedra" of Globo Channel. In the same month she was nominated by Tim Awards 2008 as Best Pop-Rock Singer with her album "Pecadinho". In the same category were Fernanda Takai and Vanessa da Mata. In June she recorded with Tom Zé the song "Filho do Pato" for his album "Estudando a Bossa-Nova", released in 2008 by Biscoito Fino Records. In September she participated in the recording of the album "Cartola –100 years" released by Sony Music, singing the song "Catedral do Inferno". In October she started doing the show "Pecadinho" in Rio de Janeiro, at Mistura Fina Bar. In November she did a release party of the music video of the song Frevo (Pecadinho) at Uranos Cabareh (SP). In the same period she was honored to be invited by the Argentinean singer Mercedes Sosa to participate in her shows in Germany, Italy, Israel and Brazil, playing in the countries major cities, a total of 11 cities. It was the last tour of Sosa's album "La Negra em Vida". In February 2009 she participated in an artist residence in East Timor, doing musical swaps with local and international artists, culminating in the show "Women for Peace" in the capital Deli. In March she participated in the celebration for the International Women's Day in Ibirapuera Park (SP), performing a show with Mariana Aydar, Andréia Dias, Silvia Machete, Luisa Maita and Giana Viscardi. In the same month she did the show "Pecadinho" at Bourbon Street Bar (SP) in the project "Tuesdays by Women". In April she was invited by Mart'nália to participate in her season of shows at Espaço Laranjeiras (RJ), where she presented herself and played with guests such as Thais Gulin, Milton Guedes and Mart'nália. In the same month she recorded the song "Aí que Saudade da Amélia" for an album celebrating the centennial of the composer Ataufo Alves. In June, performing with Donatinho, she participated in the anniversary celebration of the radio program Sex and MPB from MPB FM Radio Station (RJ). In July she performed the show "Cruel – A Celebration to Sergio Sampaio" at Sesc Pinheiros (SP) with Luiz Melodia, Jards Macalé e Zeca Baleiro. In August she took part in the project "Pelourinho Cultural" in Salvador (BA), having as a guest the Cape Verdean singer Mayra Andrade, one of the world music's breakthrough nowadays. In October she performed on the TV show "Som Brasil" (Globo Channel) celebrating the singer Moraes Moreira. In the same month she performed "Pecadinho" at a free show in Salvador, on a crowded City Park. In November, through the project "Music for all the ears" in Salvador (BA), she played with Maria Gadú and Mariana Aydar, at a crowded Pedro Arcanjo Square in Pelourinho. In December she was selected by Funarte (SP) and performed "Pecadinho" on at the 3rd Espaço Cooperativa Festival. In January 2010 she debuted at the Salvador Summer Festival, on the Acoustic Shell Stage, together with Mallu Magalhães, Ana Cañas e Vânia Abreu. In the same month she participated in the project "Adoniran Barbosa – 100 years", a performance celebrating the centennial of the Paulistan composer, together with Maria Alcina, Virgínia Rosa, Cristina Buarque and Oswaldinho da Cuíca. In February, during Salvador Carnival 2010, she played on Varanda do Glauber, at Castro Alves Square, by joining "Trio Guetto Tech" together with Lucas Santanna, Mariella Santiago and the DJs Bandido, Mangaio and EL Roquer. Besides that, she was invited by Moraes Moreira to join him on his "Trio Elétrico Chame Gente" Project, dragging the crowd on a Carnival Tuesday. In July 10 and 11th, she performed at the 44th Montreux Jazz Festival, at Parc Vernex, Swiss. After that, she went to Turkey and made a tour, performing 9 concerts with her band. -
