    Mark Bastable's Interests
GeneralI'm interested in nothing at all except my family and writing.
MusicI work on the principle that it's not possible to take anyone's views on music seriously if they don't like the Beatles. Everything else is a question of personal taste and therefore debatable. But if you don't recognise the Beatles as the twentieth century's most inventive, most influential and most talented composers, you're pretty much admitting that you've rather missed the point of the last hundred years of musical endeavour. Should you fall into that category, I do not condemn neither do I mock. I merely despair and, having despaired, I move on.
MoviesIf I try hard I can probably come up with ten movies that I think are truly great. It's a thin layer of cream floating on the gruel of an extremely watery medium. I mean, most of it's swallowable, but not much of it's nourishing. You wouldn't want to have to live on it.
TelevisionThe percentage of TV that's watchable is so tiny as to be within the anticipated margin of error. From a statistical point of view, good TV doesn't exist. Why, then, do we spend so much time sitting there on the sofa waiting for it to appear?
BooksVonnegut, Roth, M.Amis, Robertson Davies, Wodehouse, Southern, Gogol... Will that do for now?

I'm about to start reading Mischief. Sorry it has taken me so long to get to it, but I'm being a good little writer-monk and staying focused.

Hope you are well and happy. Nice pic of you on LitPark!

Was fun being on the Backspace panel with you. Whenever I couldn't answer a question, I could just say, "Let's give Mark a turn."

Just thought i'd put what i said yesturday down in writing in cyberspace.

I've read your short stories and parts of your book that is currently under construction, you've also had three published books.

Yet only your MySpace page could finally convince me how absolutly tallented, funny and brilliant you are.

I can't decide if that's Great or terrible.

Love CC xxxx
