I set up Foolish Pleasure Music in the late 80's with John Francis and Dwight Arnold. Though John is doing other things now and Dwight sadly died a couple of years ago, the 'company' still exists to promote singer/songwriters and provide (as close to 'free') demo facilities as possible, to those who would otherwise be unable to record their music.
Sounds Like
Some say... Michael Stipe, Phil Collins, a few others... can't hear it myself.
I always thought I was not particularly good at much. Music has been the one thing that has kept me sane all these years. Whether I'm any good at it or not remains to be seen and is not for me to judge. If I have any kind of gift, I pass it on freely and willingly. I hope I have touched someone with it...
Following my retirement from doing pub gigs, I've decided its time to revert to my own name. 'Martin John' are my first two names anyway and served me well but I want to be 'who I am' from now on.
I am truly honoured when someone asks me to play with them. It is humbling that someone likes what you do enough to consider that what you do might enhance their music.
May it never stop...
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.
