Lora	Apr 11 2008 3:54 AM Matt! New Zealand is still ridiculously great. I have been taking lessons from this pianist here named Jonathan Crayford. He's a great teacher, and he's also completely insane. He used to be a pianist in NY until he got deported for doing too many drugs, and now he lives in a shack in this really rich neighborhood near the ocean, with a cat and his bicycle and a huge sign on his mailbox that says "NO JUNK MAIL!" He's crazy. He has this way of playing that he completely made up himself (he says he learned jazz by ear) and it's unlike anything I've ever heard of. Anyway, I have to go, but I just wanted to tell you that I miss you and every time I go on your site I really have to write something because I miss talking to you. Even though we don't do it that often anyway. Love! Lora

Lora	Feb 25 2008 1:03 AM Hey Matt! New Zealand is unbelievably beautiful. I climbed Mount Nguarhoe the other day (it's the mountain they used as Mount Doom for Lord of the Rings) and I drove a car off a 25 foot waterfall (don't worry, I was supposed to do that) and I saw bubbling mud and climbed volcanoes and I'm having a wonderful time, and I know I hardly ever see you anyway but I really miss you, and your music is comforting to listen to because I'm really, really far away from home. I've found that a lot of the student musicians here worship wynton marsalis and chris potter as if they're Jesus incarnate, and I feel like the point is being missed, (even if it turns out to be just my point) I probably don't make any sense right now, (probably the homesickness talking,) and I know this sounds american and pretentious, but I miss some down home good soulful artisticy music stuff. The kind of music that doesn't sound like sports. I know it will get better, I'm just homesick a lot. Anyway. This has gone on long enough. I hope you're doing well, and I can't wait to see you this summer. Love, Lora PS you should come to New Zealand they've got really pretty trees. And they purify their beer here.
