My name is Matt Nightingale. I am a grateful child of God. I am the husband of Luanne and the father of Joshua, Jacob, Emily and Zachary. I am the Director of Worship Ministries at Redeemer Covenant Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a licensed staff minister in the Evangelical Covenant Church. I am a singer-songwriter and worship leader who feels passionate about God's church. I am called to help people experience God through music and the arts.
I don't have it all figured out, but I'm on a cool journey, learning about myself and others, about life and love and spirituality. I'm confident, even in my darkest times, that there's a loving God behind all that we experience, and I know that day by day more will be revealed. I'm trying to be faithful in this process, chronicling the journey, capturing my experiences in words and melodies. I just hope that my songs will strike a chord with someone. I think I've written about universal themes for this record: hopes and dreams for our children, reconciliation and honesty with those we love, the need for connection with God, the deep desire we all have to live as whole people, not dividing our lives up into segments I'd like to think I've done so with integrity. I hope people can see themselves in these songs. We all have to face our own brokenness and come to grips with what grace is all about. If my music could help someone see God in the midst of whatever they're going through, I'd be really grateful.
I don't know where God is taking me in this musical journey, but whether 100 people hear my songs or 100,000, I'll keep singing them. I'm thankful for the opportunity to share them with you.
From the 77s.com website:
Matt Nightingale delivers Still Standing, an album of remarkable passion and candid personal confession with a hefty dose of pure pop confection thrown in for good measure. With Mike Roe (77s, Lost Dogs) at the helm as producer and guitarist, the unbeatable rhythm section of Mark Harmon and Bruce Spencer commands a colorful new landscape of pop and R&B foundations for Matt's soulful voice, memorable melodies and healing, heartfelt lyrics. A wonderful and worshipful pop experience awaits you here.
From the driving opener, a soaring cover of Terry Butlers "Psalm 19" to the graceful closer, a gospel-tinged original ballad called "New Every Morning," from the bouncy, Blues Traveler-esque radio single "Always Entertaining Me (The La-La Song)" to the soulful acoustic love song to his children "Oh My Child," a myriad of styles and sounds awaits the listener, all built around Matt's authentic, tuneful songwriting and powerful, compelling vocals.
We are happy to announce the new Desperation Band release is out now!
Filled with passionate songs birthed in the furnace of worship, prayer and intercession, Desperation Band's first studio album is a powerful experience calling the body of Christ to mercy and justice. Light Up The World is a fresh new sound of worship from the Desperation Movement through which thousands of students have taken the Desperation Vow to wholeheartedly follow God. In a special partnership with Heartwork Uganda, this album is dedicated to being a source of mission preparation and funding for the building of orphanages in Uganda.
