Influences
I love pretty much all types of music as long as its got some soul, is unique or I can get my groove on to it, I don't believe its healthy to listen to only one genre of music, your mind grows and expands the more you take in -so I try to saturate my ears with as much old and new music as possible!

Sounds Like
One of a kind. Can sing, write songs, rap, double time, freestyle, jam with anyone, dance, play piano, play drums (kinda) produce tunes, Surf (proper surfing, on a big board!), ride a skateboard (drop into a half pipe if its not too big), snowboard, write fiction and poetry, clean, cook (vege meals only sorry), and do a bit of gardening! Great with words, rubbish with numbers, prefer texting to phone calls, hugs to kisses (both when it comes to my b'friend) trainers to heels, tea to coffee, water to alcohol, and smiles and kind words to poison and jealousy... Ask and Believe to Achieve and Receive!

CHECK OUT MY LITTLE FANS!!!
..
"The worlds number one Female Drum and Bass MC as voted for at this years DnB Awards, and undisputed First Lady of the mic!"
Whassup, Kia Ora and Wah blow people!!, Im originally from a dairy farm in Taranaki, New Zealand, growing up under the shadow of a beautiful mountain and the rugged west coast, I listened to everything from Rock and New Jack Swing, to Hiphop and Folk.
I discovered my love for Drum and Bass back in 1996 in Christchurch, NZ, and from there progressed within the scene, working firstly for Scientific promotions and helping host their radio show (with DJ Mosus) before eventually trying out my love of lyrics on the mic. After working hard within the scene I felt I had gone as far as I could go, and I had bigger ambitions -to become an MC in the UK, and work with my biggest influences -The Full Cycle crew..but first stop was Australia. Fate brought Full Cycle and me together, and while at an after show party for Reprazent in Melbourne in 2001 I finally met my heroes, Roni Size and DJ Krust. I bust some lyrics in Ronis ear, and impressed, he invited me to the UK to work with them. Long story short, three months later I was on a plane, and ended up living and working in Bristol, writing and recording my first solo album 'Lyric on my Lip' with production from Roni, Krust, DJ Die, Clipz and featured vocals from Dynamite MC. I toured with my own live band, wrote and featured on many a Full Cycle release (including Size's 'Return to V' and Clipz's 'Living Drumz' albums) and after four years, moved to London in 2005. Since then I have released a limited edition compliation CD featuring my love of Hiphop and Soul -wth production largely from First Man productions, and features from Dynamite MC, Blak Twang, Sincere and Mr Ti2bs.('DO IT FOR YOURSELF' LIMITED EDITION CD - avaliable to buy via ITunes, www.amplifier.co.nz www.awal.co.uk)
I have rediscovered my passion for Drum and Bass and in the last two years I have guested on several DnB tunes and albums including US based- Atlantic Connection's LP 'Tomorrow is not enough' with the tune "Good Hood Review", guested on The Ez Rollers album, 'Conductor', as well as their offshoot 12" "lets give in" and "Liar Liar", with "Lets give in" receiving BBC Radio 1 support from Trevor Nelson, Zane Lowe and the 1Xtra Massive.
Last year I recorded "Signs" with acclaimed producer Subfocus which will preview on the forthcoming Subfocus album on Ram recordings-2009. I hosted the recently released 'Deep Sound LP' mixed by SS and Influx UK on New ID Recordings, released the single "First Lady Story" from 'The Jungle Story' LP on Easy/Sativa Records, (telling my story of how I came to be the UKs First Lady), and guested on "Cold Rock A Party" - On Dope Amo's 'Roots and Future' LP which was also released late last year. 2009 has already seen guest vocal collaborations with Lynx for his forthcoming LP with the tune "The Real Thing" and The Paris Based Dirtyphonics Crew on their "Quarks" E.P with 'The Secret' out on Audioporn.
My passion for music is not limited to Hiphop and DnB however, and I have recently been working with House Producer Martjin Ten Velden, Cntrl -Z and Screwface on their forthcoming Breaks LP, and will be working with the Equalizers in the near Future. In early 2008 I joined the 'Queens of the Jungle' Collective featuring DJ Shortee, Reid Speed and myself, an all female, American based, DnB collective - gaining fast popularity around the world for our unique setup and performance.
I both Sing and MC, song write for other people, can work my way around Protools and Reason, are classically trained in Singing and Piano, and have a BA in English Literature, a Diploma in Performing Arts, and a Diploma in Secondary school teaching. But truth be told, the only thing I ever really gave a f**k about was smashing it up on the mic. PEACE x

TALI The First Lady of the Mic's Friend Space (Top 9)
Hello Tali Here's your fanmail #94209 for the day. =) I just wanted to say I can't wait for your new album. I'm completely stoked about it. I feel silly writing a gushy fan letter, but I had to say it. Your music is so positive, it's wonderful. I was just listening to The Secret. Are you learning about this thing they call "the secret"? Some people call it the "law of attraction" theory: that the things that come to you in life happen because you believed it would happen. That's what I felt that your song was about, and actually, a friend has recently turned me on to the philosophy. It certainly has seemed to work for you! Well anyway, your music is fabulous and positive, a wonderful inspiration. That's all. =) Have a lovely night/day depending on what time it is where you are. sincerely, Catie
Respect, Can't seem to send a message so I'm writing here. Hi Tali,I'm a Producer from Trinidad, my name is Keshav. I've been working on my drum & bass project for a minute, and I've been in bristol collabing and trying to get on compilations. Your style is mad, mine is different. listen to my vibes and see if you vibesin it.
Seriously, meeting you at Ultra for that like 5 seconds destroyed me. In this past year, seen you at WEMF (r.i.p.) and Ultra, and the WODNB, nevermind in previous years. Have always thought you are ill. Seriously, props for being the BEST MC OUT THERE.
If there's a big bash in the UK worthy of it, my buddies and I may just fly over. Don't leave us hanging :/ DnB ain't the same without Tali
It was awesome getting to meet you in Orlando, the show was off the hook, DJSS blew the roof off!! Never thought I'd have an MC Tali autograph on my wall (Sweet) Thanks for getting on the mic even though you had lost your voice - You're a trooper - Good luck with Rogue Nouveau, can't wait to be jamm'n to it while cruising the streets of Tampa - Peace
miss mc tali...seeing you this past weekend in the bay area was a treat. even though the sound system was HELLLLLLLLLLLLA bonkers(yeah i said it) you still held it down.
